This post is about pull-ups specifically…

However, and I have just taken a moment to recognise the work Pat has put in since joining Peach 🍑. He joined us a little lost, seeking an overhaul in the way he looked and felt about himself. We’re bloody proud of the significant changes he has made in his life and the work he has put in the gym, not to mention the the contribution he continues to make in our business behind the scenes 💻.

Ok onto pull-ups…
As far as back exercises go, it’s the 🐐 in our opinion.
However we hear so often people say
“I can’t do that” or “it’s just too hard” 🤔..

📍Pat in pic 1 was about as far off from a pull-up as you could get.
↪️He got to work on his nutrition, steps and resistance training for 12months.

📍 slide 2 - The next time we tried he got 3.
↪️Continued working his butt off on nutrition, steps and resistance training.

📍 And after another 12 months now he can do 10 😊.

Moral of the story, we encourage y’all (learnt a new word in 🇺🇸) to persist for a bit longer.

The migration back to the gym has begun! 🦋🐃

Strength first. Fat loss follows. 🍑

Women, gain energy & confidence from resistance training — not just a lower number on the scale.

Fat loss is a pleasant byproduct!

and I (Mitch) have never spoken about losing weight or being a certain number on the scales. We have focused on technique and progressing her confidence with load (building strength).

The results speak for themselves.

Jess has lost 30kg in 10months! 🍑

This isn’t a surprise to her whole family (her husband, mum, sister and son all train with Peach too), or to anyone at Peach, given the actions she has taken.

Initially, Jess wasn’t motivated and was extremely apprehensive about the idea of resistance training. In fact after meeting with Mitch she took 3 months to get back to him, before taking the leap and deciding to train 4 days a week, every week since that point.

Jess isn’t finished yet and has bolder goals she is working towards. We’re all very proud of the commitment she has shown and she should be commended for results to-date. 👏

Flexion rows - try them!

They have been around for 50+ years - this is not a new concept, see second slide of Arnold.

Flexion rows, where you slightly round your back are highly beneficial for muscle growth (hypertrophy):

1 Hits Different Areas of the Back: This variation helps target parts of the back that might not get as much attention in regular rows, promoting more balanced muscle growth.

2 Better Muscle Stretch: The flexed position can provide a deeper stretch in the lats during the eccentric phase, which leads to greater muscle activation.

3 Less Strain on Lower Back (later in sessions): Compared to traditional rows, flexion rows can be easier on your lower back, especially if done with controlled movements.

4 Overcome Plateaus: Changing up your rowing style can provide a fresh stimulus for your muscles, helping you break through training plateaus and continue progressing.

5 Better Posture and Strength: This exercise strengthens your upper back and can improve posture, which is important for both aesthetics and overall health.

Q&A with Katey & Patty:

What is your primary fitness goal right now?

K: Drop a lil body fat, improve general fitness, keep in generally good shape.
P: Muscle gain and weight loss.

How active are you currently?

K: Moderately active. I don’t really sit down unless I’m in the office or running the kids around.
P: Moderately active!

Have you ever worked with a personal trainer before?

K: Yes, Online only ‘21 - present
P: Yes but rarely

What types of exercise do you enjoy most?

K: Weights, walking and just being busy, outside in garden, cleaning up, washing cars, moving and being productive is right up there for me
P: Cardio and weight lifting

Are there any exercises you particularly dislike or want to avoid?

K: Running, loads of huffing and puffing, deadlifts!
P: Not particularly

Do you prefer having a weight date or training alone?

K: Alone typically, but defs rated today’s lil partner HIIT sesh!
P: Weight date

Are you currently tracking your food intake?

K: Not strictly, but I’ve used fitness pal and not a bad guess as Caloric value of things. Probs not hitting enough protein.
P: Very moderately

Are you open to discussing nutrition adjustments to support your fitness goals?

K: Yep, when I’m back in routine, it’s on the radar.
P: Yep definitely on the radar

How many days per week are you looking to train?

K: Routinely 3 minimum, ususally 4
P: 2-3x per week

Why have you chosen Peach 🍑?

K: Spice up old routine, we are ready for a new approach and you both are genuinely invested that we are training as optimally as we can be for the time we are in the gym.
P: Kate told me to, nah good recommendations, change up from what we were doing previously, so far stoked with the service!
