in action at Wilson’s Prom 15km over the weekend!

Pierce has had a busy start the year off the trails, but he’s been doing the work and opened his season strongly with a fast and hard race, coming home with 🥈 Not a bad place to race on the trails either! 🏝️

“Had fun getting down to the prom for a solid hit out! Fast flowy trails, and a second place to top it off”

Pierce now gets stuck into a build block towards a big trail season at the end of the year. We are using the cross country season to work on race craft, and start testing the limits of how hard he can push! 🔥

Liana’s been working with for 4 years. We’ve been slowly (and carefully) stacking bricks, and that work is starting pay off 🧱

We’re only just finishing April and already Liana has ticked some big goals:

Be named in the Australian team to compete at the junior world champs, in Sweden ✅

1st place at the under 20 mountain running champs ✅

Big 5km PB, unpaced and in the middle of a training week ✅

Loving running and being out on the mountain ✅

Very excited to see what Liana can achieve for the rest of the year!

Gemma had a tough end to 2025, but bounced back strongly into the 2026 national orienteering season!

Gemma’s been putting in the work and it’s starting to pay dividends with strong performances at the national league finals in Ballarat over the weekend 💪

Next up it’s a European tour to build confidence and strength in unfamiliar terrain (and of course enjoy a euro summer ☀️) before taking on the Orienteering Championships in September 💥

deep in some gnarly marathon training for the upcoming

Davide’s big goal for the 2nd half of 2025 is the 100km at , and the build for marathon has been key to build resilience and muscular endurance 💪

Looking forward to see what he can run in a few weeks on the journey to the big dance in November 🔥

Ascend athletes taking on a few weekends ago 🔥

After a strong European orienteering season .george headed to the blue mountains to take on some of Australia’s best trail runners and took home a very impressive 🥉!
sorensen came back firing after a short break from training after her European campaign and took a strong 7th 💪
2804 has been focusing on speed over 15 minutes races and transitioned well into a longer race, finishing in 9th. Watch out for Callum later in the year, he’s going to be one to watch!

has had a big year in 2024, lots of amazing trail experiences, lots of learnings!

I’ve been coaching Pierce for just over a year, helping with the transition into running from a history of high level cycling. Balancing his work as an ICU nurse has been a fun puzzle, but this definitely hasn’t been holding Pierce back as he got better and better in every race he stood on the start line of!

2nd at was a great way to finish a fantastic year, and I’m very excited to see where Pierce goes with another 1-2 years of solid running training, building upon all that work he did on the bike a few years ago! 🧱

Time to recap 2024, and the amazing athlete stories that made it a great year here at Ascend Physio and Run Coaching 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

I started coaching Di in 2023, in her build up to . Unfortunately, during a race we were using as part of the build, Di sustained a significant injury to her ankle, putting her out of running for months.

That didn’t stop Di! She put in the hard work with her rehab and cross training and hit 2024 with a fire in her belly. But as we know life has some speed bumps, and come May Di wasn’t where she wanted to be with her running. We looked at the program - was it possible to get to a place where Di could finish Bondi to Manly Ultra 2024? I was hesitantly optimistic, but Di was determined.

I’m super impressed with how Di managed the next few months, taking the ups and the downs and learning along the way. By the time October rolled around I was confident Di would finish the race well under cut off, and that she did, running an awesome time of 12 hours and 22 minutes 🔥

Here’s to a big 2025 and to shave some serious time off that BTMU time in October! 💪

Ascend athlete .george competing at round 2 of the Orienteering World Cup in 🇨🇿

Ali had some troubles with repeated ankle sprains earlier this year but worked hard over the last few months to take some very respectable results in both the sprint (80th) and forest (101st and 105th)

"I had a lot of fun racing in Czechia! The terrain was very steep with really nice sandstone. Mixed feelings about the result but keen to build on it for next season 😊"

Keen to see where Ali can take his orienteering in 2024 💪🏻

A massive congratulations to Ascend athletes Euan and Liana on their impressive performances at the Australian Schools Orienteering Championships!

Both were back to back champions in the sprint and forest disciplines 🏆

Coach is excited to see how these two talented juniors can continue to develop in the long term 💪🏻
