IT IS NOT ABOUT MAKING ART THAT IS BEAUTIFUL...
IT IS ABOUT SO MUCH MORE!
It is about making Art that is...
...It is "Soul Work"
Transpersonal (TP) Art Therapy may be seen as a cutting edge and alternative form of therapy, yet at the same time in its truest form it originates from some of the most ancient practices of self-healing which are thousands of years old. Quite simply, TP Therapy adopts a holistic and person-centered approach in which all aspects of the client’s world may be explored, including psychosocial aspects, mind, body, environment and primarily spirituality.
TP Art Therapy offers a specialised area of mental health and general well-being, it also serves as a complementary therapy to other support services, such as G.P’s, psychologists and other mental health professionals. It can help individuals achieve personal insight, raise self-awareness as well as find healing and is particularly helpful for those who have experienced depression, anxiety, reduced self-esteem, trauma, medical illness or social difficulties.
Participants are provided with an escape from the demands of the outside world where they can move into playful, spontaneous and creative forms of expression. A number of physical and mental health benefits can include relieving stress, improving sleep, alleviating depression and anxiety, increasing self-esteem and self-worth.
Above all else, TP Art Therapy provides a safe space and the opportunity to help with self-realisation, meaning making and purpose in life. The TP approach is a gentle, person-centred approach and it holds no religious orientation - which means it is accessible and adaptable to everyone. Art making in therapy is not just about drawing your feelings, the therapist is trained to lead you through the art making process in a therapeutic way. Participants may find themselves using a number of different art applications which could include painting, drawing, clay, art journaling, creative writing, movement and dance or making a mask or collage.

A message from Erin: I am a Transpersonal Art Therapist and I'm excited to bring to the community an alternative approach to mental health and general lifestyle counseling. The Transpersonal approach is primarily a spiritual approach that combines healing modalities from both the East and West - largely influenced by the shamanic paradigm. Priding myself on my ability to meet at the level of a broad range of people through my non-judgmental attitude and warmth, I am passionate about creating healing through the use of alternative and creative processes including art, meditation and relaxation, movement and talking therapies. I am committed to providing support to people through whatever challenges they may be confronting by providing a safe space and the opportunity to help with self-realization, meaning making and purpose in life.
