Haven't posted on here in a while so thought I would update.....had my 6 month checkup/ camera down throat and scans two days ago .....oncologist reminded me it's been 4.5 years now so one more 6 month to go then discharged ( all being well) 🙄....a few issues have worsened namely the swallowing issues I've had since the surgery and radiotherapy ...the muscles in my throat are not working as well as they should and I need to see a specialist to see if we can strengthen them .. I suggested lots more beer but apparently that wont do the trick .. shame 😂....issue is if the throat muscles get worse the two way valve will stop working and I'll end up swallowing food into my lungs which will obvs. Be bad news long infections and poss worse 😪....will see what happens I suppose in the coming months when I've seen the specialist .....
Anyway just keep pushing on and roll with the punches as always. Still consider myself to be one of the lucky ones !!!

6 month checkup just done...all pretty good news , nose and throat sore after having camera rammed up( and down) without any anesthetic spray tho 😢...can also recommend this book as a good read by a mate from the pub who just wrote it..😉

6 month checkup this morning ...fingers crossed for good news and then into xmas and beyond 😁... . last time i wear my work stuff to hospital though .. they think i work here 🤣🤣

Been a fair while since i updated anything on this page..hasnt felt right during the last year or so with all the covid struggles around the globe.😥....Anyway glad to say things are going well .... weight piling back on all too rapidly( as is for nurse bex 😉) and food starting to taste good again..
3 month scans now 6 monthly and the future looking positive..
Been a tough / strange couple of years but recent times have definately put things into perspective for sure and taught me to...look after those around you , build bridges with those you have fallen out with and dont put off till tomorrow what you can do today .. lifes too short enjoy it ...
Saying that cant wait to play a bit more rugby 😉..

So through slightly drunken tired eyes ( yep 1.30am 1st jan.2021 now) 😁 and still sinking a wee dram or two to be polite here endeth be it a little late my 2020 updates.

Weight wise .. up to a good beer drinking 105 kgs

Health wise doctor said im looking good for a 104 year old !! 😁.... But seriously recent tests very positive and no new cancers or spreads so very grateful for that
Strength wise..in gym 5 days a week and benching more than i did 20 years ago ( 140kg + bench ) so happy with that !!
General swallowing still and likely always gonna be an issue but on the whole prettty grateful right now for my progress .

Summary ...im doing okay...2020 has been s**t for everyone and roll on 2021. !!!

Been a while so thought id check in and say hi to everyone... keeping fairly well in lockdown and managed to get my weight up to a healthy 100kgs now 😁...hitting gym hard most days and generally feeling pretty good...usual throat problems but wont bore you all with that one ( did i mention..... oh yes im sure i did) 😂 ... nothing to add until my next scan in a month or so.... stay safe and well everyone xx
PS ... If anyone is feeling low in this lockdown period and needs a chat or a virtual beer get in touch ... you all have friends around the world who will listen in a heartbeat so please reach out...dont suffer in silence you are not alone ..xx

Hi strangers 😁 little update as its been a while.
Three month check-up today camera up nose down throat etc. Standard .. all good..( aussie talk) weight up to a belt busting 96.5 kilos ( about 15 stone in old money) the emerging prop makes a comeback perhaps ??
Still same side sffects re. Swallowing /no saliva etc but just have to learn to deal with that i suppose.😥
A few more tests to have but nothing to worry about - im one of the lucky ones and am thankful every day !! 😁

Well a year to the day my radiotherapy finished and I'm still here 😁..a good time to thank all the nurses doctors and specialists who have helped to get me here...special thanks to former nurse bex and all my family and friends too..you have all been amazing love you all..x

Another birthday but a different type of isolation this time around..... last year I had just had my first chemo session and feeding tube installed ..infection then set in and 2 weeks over Easter and birthday in liverpool hospital. 😥... in a far better place this year however.....
Thinking of everyone suffering around the world at this time - count my blessings that I'm pretty healthy at the moment( fingers crossed)...stay safe everyone and thank you all that have helped and continue to help me along this uncertain journey xx

Not too much to report here....oh apart from last week had my 3 month review - camera up nose and down throat etc and happy to report cancer has apparently all gone.😁..nothing to do but wait for the next one in three months eat and drink and put a bit more timber on! unless any symptoms reoccur.
Thanks to you all as always.I think nurse Bex has now moved on to other more deserving patients 🤣 PS stay safe everyone x
