!!The Nixon Clinic is now offering couples therapy!!

It’s been a while since I posted. I’ve been enjoying the school holidays with my boys and also completing my training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. It’s so exciting that The Nixon Clinic can now offer relationship counselling.

Some of the goals of the Gottman method are to disarm conflicting verbal communication, increase intimacy and respect.

Working on some cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) education this morning. When the printer won’t work get the sharpies out and draw! Did you know that CBT is based around the theory that there is a relationship between our thoughts, our feelings and our behaviours. Once you understand the process you can become better at controlling these things in your own life.

I’ve spent some of my morning planning for the up and coming Strength program facilitated at Perception Psychology Mackay. The program is aimed at building self-esteem, resilience and strong coping skills in young males and male-identifying teens.
