Mentoring works. So let’s fund it.

When men have a mentor in their corner, they ask for help earlier, stay connected, and avoid crises.

Men who engage with mentoring programs before things go sideways normalise help‑seeking, and become more resilient and confident.

To read why Mentoring Men is urging the government to fund mentoring as a permanent pillar of Australia’s mental health system, read herehttp://www.mentoringmen.org.au/_files/ugd/0a8b0a_bb3517387e9a44958438aa6a18f36756.pdf

We’re proud to share a moving piece in Noosa Today featuring Megan Murphy, who’s lacing up in memory of her brother Ben and raising funds for Mentoring Men through the Blue for Benny campaign.

In the interview, Megan speaks with deep affection about Ben, and her words powerfully echo the purpose behind our work: helping men feel heard, supported, and connected.

The article also highlights our Men Do Talk research, where 95% of men agreed that support would help them navigate life, yet 42% still ‘push through on their own’. It’s a sobering reminder of why we exist.

We’re incredibly grateful to Megan for sharing her story, and to editor Abbey Cannan for giving it space. The article includes a direct link to Megan’s fundraiser, aiming to raise $5,000 to support our mentoring programs.

This is what a movement looks like - personal, powerful, and grounded in real community.

Have you seen the latest TikTok trend where blokes are calling each other just to say “goodnight”? It might seem simple, but it’s actually a sign of something much bigger: men are looking for ways to connect and support each other.

At Mentoring Men, this isn’t new information for us. Our latest research shows that:
- 66% of men aged 35–50 would say YES to having a mentor if asked.
- 42% have never even heard of mentoring as an option.
- 53% report feeling moderate-to-high levels of loneliness.

The message is clear—men DO want to talk and connect, but many don’t know where to turn.

This Men’s Health Week, it’s more important than ever for men to know it’s OK to have meaningful conversations about their mental and physical health. Our free, one-to-one peer mentoring program connects men with trained volunteers for real, judgment-free chats. No pressure, no clinical labels—just honest support from someone who understands.

If you caught us recently on The Morning Show or Weekend Sunrise, you would have seen some of the amazing stories from our community and the real difference that mentoring makes.

Want to help break the stigma and build a more connected, healthy society? Share this post, tag a mate, or find out more about joining or supporting Mentoring Men. Because sometimes, all it takes is a simple “goodnight” to start a bigger conversation.

A healthy society needs healthy men.

Mentoring Men is free, confidential, local and designed just for men. Our mentors aren’t therapists, they’re everyday blokes with real life experience and a willingness to listen.

When men support each other, the benefits ripple out to families, friendships, workplaces, and the whole community. https://bit.ly/3EYEgSN

Two-thirds of Aussie blokes are open to having a mentor. But nearly half don’t know where to find one. That’s where Mentoring Men steps in. We connect men across Australia with trained, local mentors who get it.

We’re incredibly humbled to have had the opportunity to share our message on national television this morning.

Our CEO Filipe Gama e Silva and COO Cassandra Gray joined The Morning Show to talk about our recent report 'Men Do Talk', and the power of life mentoring.

The data is clear: 2 in 3 men would say yes to mentoring if offered. But too many are still suffering in silence simply because they do not know we exist.

All of us at Mentoring Men are showing up daily. It’s not therapy. It’s not crisis support. It’s one bloke showing up for another and it works. But we need help to keep showing up.

If you share our vision get involved!
