Bringing Colour to the Community!

A once-ordinary toilet block at Flinders Park has been transformed into a vibrant mural, thanks to the creativity and teamwork of local young people from are-able’s Transition to Work (TTW) and Workforce Australia (WFA) programs, working alongside the Glenelg Shire Council Youth Team.

Over several weeks, participants brainstormed, designed, and painted the artwork, leaving their colourful mark on the Portland community.

Celebrating Children’s Week in Swan Hill!

Our Parent Pathways team was proud to support the Swan Hill Community Event alongside a wonderful group of local organisations including:
Swan Yoga Bliss, SHDH Maternal Child Health Nurses, Mallee Family Care, Swan Hill Specialist School, SHDH Community, and Health Promotion & Dietitian Services.

It was a fantastic day filled with connection, fun, and community spirit, a great reminder of what can be achieved when we work together to support local families.

Squad goals unlocked as we vibed with an absolute legend crew of youth peeps.

We might not be fully fluent in Gen Z just yet, think we’re sitting at a solid 6/7 on the youth scale 😅 but we’re getting there!

On a serious note, it was such a fantastic opportunity to collaborate, share ideas, and explore ways we can work together to support local young people and strengthen our community.

How lucky are we to have such an amazing group working in the youth sector? 🙌

Encouraging more women into trades!

Our recent Women in Trades event in Portland, delivered in collaboration with South West TAFE, was a huge success, bringing together local employers, apprentices, and women eager to explore hands-on careers in trades.

The event sparked meaningful conversations, built confidence, and showcased the many opportunities available for women in traditionally male-dominated industries.

🚗 From Robinvale to the Road: Tina’s Learner Permit Milestone 🚗

For Tina, a mother of six living in Robinvale, getting her driver’s licence once felt impossible. With the closest major town over an hour away, driving would mean greater independence and opportunity for her family.

With the support of are-able’s Parent Pathways program and her mentor, Reney, Tina not only passed her learner’s test but also received her very first official photo ID, a huge milestone worth celebrating!

Her journey is a powerful reminder that big goals are possible with the right support and determination.
