Loneliness Awareness Week: 4th - 10th August, is a time to raise awareness about chronic loneliness and social isolation, and to start meaningful conversations about how we can build more connected, inclusive communities.
Ending Loneliness Together is Australia’s peak body, working to address social isolation and loneliness. They are calling on all Australians to make by creating opportunities for people to connect.
At Living Well Solutions, we know a home is more than just a building, it’s a place where connection, community, and belonging can grow.
Yet, for many Australians with disability, loneliness is an everyday challenge:
🔹 1 in 6 people with disability report social isolation
🔹 29% of people aged 15–64 with disability say they often feel lonely (Source: AIHW 2024)
As an SDA provider, we’re committed to doing our part:
- Designing welcoming, inclusive homes that encourage social interaction.
- Supporting residents to find shared interests with housemates, whether it’s cooking, music, art, gardening or sport and helping friendships grow from there.
- Creating shared spaces that foster connection, while respecting each person’s privacy.
- Collaborating with support teams and local organisations to connect residents with their community.
We make connection a priority, this week and every week.
