A day in my life...
Let's start with the most important meal of the day.
Breakfast.
Below is a photo of this mornings breakfast and let's just say it was delicious 😋
Let's go through what I have here:
• Slice of sourdough bread. I rub garlic into the bread then top it with avocado 🥑
• In my mixed scramble I have spinach, mushrooms, tomato 🍅, red onion, an egg 🥚 and I mix a little thickened plant cream to the egg and combine.
• Once cooked, I top this with my home grown micro herbs 🌿
♡ Broccoli sprouts
♡ Red cabbage sprouts
♡ Mustard sprouts

• My juice is full of anti inflammatory fruits and veggies like beetroot, tumeric & ginger 🫚 also delicious. To help with my gut, I add kefir to the juice.
• Finally my latte 😋 I'm lactose intolerant so I recently found an amazing milk product that is produced and sold right here in Melbourne. 🐅 Tiger nut milk. (no tigers used) I use the barista milk for my coffee and it is so creamy and delicious.

• Finally my vitamins

♡ CoQ10
♡ Rose-Hip Vital

For those wondering, YES, I do practice what I preach.

As a nutritionist, I am recommending products to clients with a lot of nutritional intolerances such as gluten, dairy, preservatives and histamines.

By helping others while researching, I often come across products that would also be beneficial to myself.
You see, I am the most complicated case I have come across. Having had an undiagnosed metabolic disorder in my 20's, an early hysterectomy after bouts of unsuccessful IVF treatments followed months later by a cancer diagnosis with chemo and radiation treatment. My body has been through a lot.
I have worked with sports dietitians and other nutritional specialists, and none have been able to help. What works for others does not always work for me.

I understand the importance of listening to my clients. They live with their body 24/7, so they know best what is going on and not feeling right within their own body.

A lot of my time is spent researching to find what is best for my clients to improve their health and inevitably reach their goals.
Just like my clients, I am also striving to reach my own goals.

HI I'M KIM

As a child, I was a competitive swimmer. I was always exercising whether it was in the pool or dancing.
I have continued my swimming and is my favorite exercises to do.

When I turned 20, bad food, lack of exercise and social outings with friends who did not have the predisposition for weight gain
caused me to gain a lot of weight. I took the steps to change the way I ate and lost all the weight I had gained and re-found my missing waistline. I started training at the gym once more and kept the weight off.

I was in my mid 20's when my weight became a problem again. I was given a contraceptive pill called Depo Provera.
My body reacted badly to it. I put on 20kg's in 4 weeks and my periods stopped coming regularly. I continued exercising and eating healthy, however nothing was working. The weight just would not come off no matter how much exercise I did.

It wasn't until I was in my early 30s that I saw a specialist for what I thought was a thyroid problem, only to find out I had a metabolic hormonal imbalance. I was sent on my way with no advice except, you just need to lose weight.

Finally having a name for what was going on with my body, I went home and started to researched metabolic hormonal disorder. I found that certain foods caused inflammation in the body and it was this inflammation that was the root cause of my problems. All the healthy food I was eating did not work for someone with a hormonal imbalance.

With a change in my nutrition, I devised a meal plan for myself and within 6 weeks, I managed to shed 10kgs.

In my mid 30's, my husband and I underwent IVF. Unfortunately, this was unsuccessful. My body did not cope, and I grew huge fibroids. The fibroids were so large, I needed a hysterectomy. I was put into an induced menopause in order to shrink the fibroids so the hysterectomy could be performed.

In December 2019, I underwent a very complicated hysterectomy surgery that took over 3 hours. I figured this would be it for a while. Little did I know.

3 months later, March 2020, just as covid hit, I found a lump and was diagnosed with breast cancer.

​I am now in my 50's, like most women my age, dealing with Menopause. Let's just say, I've gone through a lot.
I've beaten the odds, and I've fixed my nutritional problems. I have a lot of hands-on experience.

A couple years before I was diagnosed and while I was having treatment, I studied nutrition and hormone health.

​Today I am a wife and most importantly a mum to two princess furbabies.

I'm a creature of habit really. Everyone who knows me knows my favourite meal of the day is breakfast.
Why?
▪︎Because it is the first and most important meal of the day, therefore should be the biggest meal of your day. (as in highest calories of all your meals)
▪︎ It's in the word, BREAKFAST. Break Fast. After sleep, it is important to break your fast, this means the hours from your last meal the day before, which could be anywhere from 10 to 12 hours.
▪︎ And the most important reason for having breakfast. To get your metabolism up and going.

If you are someone who skips breakfast and you are trying to loose weight and not getting results, this could be one of the reasons why.

The woman🙍🏽‍♀️doesn’t know that there is a stone crushing the man.
The woman 🙎🏼‍♀️thinks: “I am going to fall! And I can’t climb because the snake 🐍is going to bite me! Why can’t the man 🧔🏼use a little more strength and pull me up!” The man 🧑🏾‍🦲thinks: “I am in so much pain! Yet I’m still pulling you as much as I can! Why don’t you try and climb a little harder!?”
The moral is— you can’t see the pressure the other person is under, and the other person can’t see the pain you’re in.
This is life, whether it’s with work, family, feelings or friends, we should try to understand each other.
Learn to think differently, perhaps more clearly and communicate better. A little thought and patience goes a long way. 🥂
