Tip: Running fast all the time doesn’t equal a better runner. As a rule of thumb, you should aim for an 80/20 split, running easy 80% of the time and moderate–fast 20% of the time. This trains your aerobic system (so over time you can run longer and faster) and prevents injury. Following a program that incorporates this will allow you to reach your goals faster and more sustainably.

Running doesn't have to be all about technique and fitness. Mindful running can be hugely beneficial in improving your mood, focus, and even recovery time!

Here are our top tips for mindful running:

😌 Focus on your breath and how your body feels
😌 Try no music or podcasts, instead listen to the sounds around you
😌 Give yourself permission to only run as far or fast as feels good

Next time you're out on a run, try to be more mindful and present and feel the difference!

Are you struggling to keep up the motivation to head out for a run now that your life has returned to normal after the holiday period?

Well, we have FIVE tips to keep your motivation high and keep you running!

1️⃣ The night before place your running gear ready to go
If your gear is ready to go, it's the first thing you will see in the morning and will make it quick and easy to get up and go in the morning

2️⃣ Set small goals
If you wake up and don't feel like running, instead of aiming to do the entire session, just aim for 5 minutes. We find 90% of the time we end up doing the whole session anyway!

3️⃣ Find a run buddy
Schedule weekly runs with someone at a similar level to you and check in with each other too. Scheduling a coffee date post-run also helps make it more motivating!

4️⃣ Eat well
If you eat well, then you will feel good. If you feel good you will more likely feel motivated to exercise.

5️⃣ Sleep is queen
Enough sleep and you can do anything. We always aim for at least 8-9 hours each night.

Just like the seasons, our bodies move and change from day to day, and week to week and our menstrual cycle has a lot to do with that 🍃

Our cycle plays a huge role in our energy levels, fitness and metabolic state thanks to the big changes in our hormones throughout our cycle.

Working with these hormone fluctuations can actually make a big difference when it comes to our training. Understanding and working with our bodies can be a great advantage as we work towards our goals.

Learning about and scheduling your run program around your cycle and working with your body is just one of the services we offer inside the Her Pace membership.

Working with your body and how your body feels is an important part of training that is often misunderstood or ignored. Our aim is to empower and educate our members to properly understand their bodies and how they can get the most out of them when it comes to their training.
