Your baby just arrived and you’ve already got a full calendar! 🗓
It’s filled with napping, bonding, breastfeeding, skin to skin and more resting! 🌱
Allowing our bodies to rest after childbirth is crucial for recovery, and our long term health and well-being.
Try to stay in bed majority of the first 5 days. Focus on skin to skin, bonding, breastfeeding and resting.
Remain on or in the bed for at least 3/4 of the time for next 5 days, still include a lot of rest, skin to skin, bonding and breastfeeding but you could also venture out to the yard for sunlight, or play a game with older children.
And stay in the bed at least half of the time for the last 5 days, ensuring to still rest, breastfeed, do skin to skin and bond with baby, but you can start to take brief strolls around the block, or do crafts with other children. ☀️
This may sound hard to accomplish! 2 whole weeks of resting? It can be easy to get caught up in welcoming visitors to meet the baby, chasing after other children, or making meals and doing housework.
This is why it’s crucial to plan for this period and schedule in your rest and recovery.
Perhaps that may involve:
• Prepping and freezing meals when pregnant
• Organising a food train for once baby arrives
• Planning for partner to keep the house clean
• Having family/ friends to help partner with older children
• Hiring a postpartum doula
• Other preparations
• Or ideally a combination!
DM me to discuss doula support or organise a postpartum planning session. 🤍
