Research shows that spending time near water can significantly reduce stress and enhance cognitive performance. Negative ions from colliding water boost your immune system and improve overall well-being. Combine this with sunlight for an even greater mental and physical uplift!

Grounding has a powerful impact on mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing and we’re seeing this reflected in research and practice amongst high performers in the sporting and corporate world. As interest in grounding continues to grow, it’s becoming a key wellness trend, alongside an area of ...

Nature offers such a calming experience. Research has shown that connecting to nature is essential for our mental health. So what can we do?

Add a little green or blue around
In your workspace, add some plants. If you are in a hospital or somewhere that does not allow soil, try fake plants, flowers in a vase, or possibly some dried native flowers. If you prefer to add some blue, try a picture of a beach, the ocean, or a lake. Having these around your daily workspace can help your mood.

Looking out a window
Having nature in our workspace can sometimes be difficult, but having a view out a window is often more achievable. Look out a window and notice what the landscape looks like. Are there any animals that you see? What are the skies looking like? Are there any tracks in the dirt? Do the branches on the trees have any foliage or flowers?

Spending time in nature
Ask yourself how you spend physical time in nature. When was the last time you spent quality time there? What captured your attention the most? Is there a certain time of day that you like to do this? Can you incorporate nature time into your day? Sometimes, by changing our routine a little, we can incorporate more nature time into our day. Try having a cuppa outside instead of in the tea room at work, or stopping at that small grass patch you walk by on your way to or from work.

What can I see and hear in nature?
Being deaf has its perks; one is taking my hearing aids off and allowing my other senses to do their thing. When I put my hearing aids on again, I can really notice the sounds that are around me. For others, I would encourage this practice (minus the hearing aids) by focusing on one of your senses at a time and allowing them to soak up what nature has to offer.

As humans, we are hard-wired for connection. That connection does not only include humans and animals but also to our environment. How are you connecting to your environment? Are there any barriers, and if so, how can you overcome them? Nature has a significant connection to our wellbeing, and being one with the force of nature can lighten up the load.

When we are misunderstood and unsupported, it’s easy to feel alone, as if we don't quite fit into the world around us. But something beautiful starts to happen when we understand that our uniqueness is not a flaw but a cause for celebration.

As we learn to appreciate and share our individual gifts, recognising the beauty in our differences, we find a renewed connection to the world - similar to the harmony found in nature, where each element contributes to the overall beauty of the landscape.

Drawing inspiration from the natural world, we come to understand that embracing our differences is a gift we can offer to the world, making it a more beautiful place for everyone around us.

The answer lies in bridging gaps, cultivating empathy, and revealing the vibrant tapestry of our shared human experience through the acknowledgment and celebration of diversity.

When we are misunderstood and unsupported, it’s easy to feel alone, as if we don't quite fit into the world around us. But something beautiful starts…
