Conditioning.. that has been built on illusion.. tied to that of our worth.. & measured by approval of the external. Measured by the submission of self to others.. false ideations.. that power lies outside of our be-ing & that love must be earned through sacrifice.

Some children seek connection in ways that can be hard for us to understand in the moment.

It might look like:
✨ Following you from room to room, never quite letting you out of sight
✨ Asking endless questions, even when you’re exhausted
✨ Becoming silly, loud or dramatic. A way of saying, see me, engage with me
✨ Melting down the minute you walk through the door because home is where they finally feel safe to release
✨ Pushing boundaries or “acting out,” because even negative attention can feel better than feeling invisible

Here’s why…
Children are biologically wired to seek connection first, cooperation second. Their developing brains and nervous systems depend on attachment, feeling safe, seen, soothed and secure with their caregivers.

When they don’t feel that sense of connection, their behaviour becomes their language. What looks like defiance, clinginess or over-the-top energy is often just a child’s nervous system asking, “Are you here with me? Am I safe in this bond?”

When children feel connected:
• Their stress hormones lower
• Their brain shifts out of survival and into learning mode
• Emotional regulation becomes possible
• Cooperation flows more naturally

What our children need most from us is to be present, attuned and willing to see the message beneath the behaviour.

Sometimes “attention-seeking” is simply connection-seeking.
