💛 If You're Struggling with Depression…

This is your reminder:

You are not lazy.
You are not broken.
You are not a burden.

Depression can make the simplest things feel impossible — getting out of bed, replying to a message, even brushing your teeth. That doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means you’re human, and you’re doing the best you can.

You don’t have to push through alone.
Support is out there.
There’s no shame in asking for help — it’s one of the bravest things you can do.

Hold on. Better days are still possible — even if you can’t see them yet 🌤️

🧠 What’s the Difference Between Mental Health and Mental Illness?
Mental health is something we all have.
It’s our ability to cope with life, handle stress, build relationships, and make everyday decisions. Good mental health means feeling balanced, capable, and connected — most of the time.

Mental illness, on the other hand, refers to a diagnosed condition that affects a person’s thoughts, feelings, mood, or behaviour — like depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia.

âś… Key points:
You can have poor mental health without having a mental illness.

You can have a mental illness and still experience periods of good mental health.

Looking after your mental health is important — whether or not you’ve been diagnosed with a condition.

Let’s keep the conversation open and judgement-free 💛

🧠 Quick Tip for Better Mental Health
Check in with yourself — regularly.
We ask others, “How are you going?”
But how often do you pause to ask yourself the same?

👉 Try this daily:
🔹 What am I feeling right now?
🔹 What do I need today — rest, connection, movement, quiet?

Tuning in helps you catch stress early, stay grounded, and take better care of your mind đź’›

Small check-ins = big impact over time.

🧠 Boundaries & Burnout – They’re Connected
Feeling constantly exhausted, snappy, or emotionally drained?
You might be heading towards burnout — and a lack of boundaries could be why.

Setting boundaries isn’t selfish — it’s essential.
It’s how we protect our time, energy, and mental wellbeing.

✅ Here’s how to start:
• Say no without over-explaining
• Set clear work/home limits (yes, that includes logging off on time)
• Don’t take on more than you can handle — even if you feel bad saying no
• Make space for rest, hobbies, and doing nothing at all

Burnout doesn’t just come from doing too much — it comes from doing too much without support or rest.

đź’¬ Be honest about your limits.
đź’› Your wellbeing matters.

🧠 Self-Care or Avoidance? Know the Difference.
Taking a break is healthy.
Avoiding what needs to be done can be harmful.

Here’s the difference:

✅ Self-care is doing what supports your wellbeing — even if it’s hard.
You rest so you can recharge. You set boundaries. You face things when you're ready.

đźš« Avoidance is putting things off to escape discomfort.
It offers short-term relief but often adds stress later.

Ask yourself:
Is this helping me feel better in the long run, or just delaying what I need to deal with?

Being kind to yourself also means being honest with yourself đź’›

✨ NAIDOC Week 2025 ✨

7–14 July

Let’s take this time to listen, learn, and stand together in solidarity.

🔥 Show your support.
🎨 Celebrate culture.

🧠 What is Avoidant Personality Disorder (AvPD)?
Avoidant Personality Disorder is a mental health condition where someone experiences a deep fear of rejection, criticism, or disapproval — so much so, they avoid social situations altogether, even if they crave connection.

It’s part of Cluster C personality disorders, known for anxious and fearful behaviours.

🔹 Key Signs:
• Intense fear of being judged or criticised
• Avoiding social settings or unfamiliar people
• Low self-worth and feelings of not being “good enough”
• Holding back in relationships out of fear
• Extreme sensitivity to negative feedback
• Often lonely, but too afraid to open up

🔍 Important to Know:
AvPD isn’t the same as being “just shy.”
It can severely impact daily life, relationships, and work.
It often develops from past experiences — like bullying, rejection, or emotional neglect.

🧰 Support is Available:
• Psychotherapy (CBT or schema therapy) can help shift unhelpful beliefs and boost confidence
• Supportive, safe relationships can make a real difference
• A proper diagnosis should come from a qualified mental health professional

đź’› Gentle Reminder:
Avoidant Personality Disorder isn’t about being antisocial — it’s about emotional self-protection.
With the right support, healing, growth, and connection are absolutely possible.

🧠 What is Mental Health — and Why Does it Matter?
Mental health isn’t just about having (or not having) a mental illness.
It’s about how we think, feel, and cope with life’s ups and downs.

Good mental health means being able to:
âś… handle stress
âś… build healthy relationships
âś… work productively
âś… enjoy life and bounce back when things get tough

Just like physical health, everyone has mental health — and it deserves care every day, not just when things go wrong.

Looking after your mental health is not a luxury — it’s part of living well.

Whether it’s a chat with a mate, a walk in the sun, or speaking to a professional — every step counts 💛
