💫 Excited to announce a new Professional Development opportunity for Health Care Professionals working with babies and infants in the health care sector. This online webinar explores the challenges faced by parents and ways that health professionals can educate and empower parents to support their infant’s medical journey. It looks at evidence-based strategies in providing positive sensory experiences and procedural support. It explores ways to break down some of the barriers through Trauma-Informed and Family Centered Care approaches. It also provides practical examples of self-care for parents, reframing of negative experiences and sibling support.

Such a wonderful experience chatting to all the incredible family's part of the Miracle Babies Foundation Nurture Group last week. Every family has such a different journey, and it was great to talk about the importance of positive medical experiences for these young people.

It is Child Life Therapy Week. Child Life Therapy aims to reduce the stress and anxiety that can be associated with hospitalisation, it helps to ensure that life remains as normal as possible for children and young people in hospital. Child Life Therapists provide individualised support to children and young people to promote effective coping in the following ways:

Developmental play opportunities
Medical play
Procedural support
Preparation for procedures (including surgery, imaging and pathology)
Development of coping strategies (comfort positioning, breathing techniques, cognitive distraction)
