The key objective of the NDIS is to make disabled people live as independently as possible by providing the right supports to assist with developing the skills.

Social and Community Participation is crucial in the personal growth of a human being. A study conducted showed that 1 in 3 people with a disability avoided certain situations because of their disability. This can lead to social isolation which can affect the overall health and wellbeing. To overcome this the NDIS funds supports for community and social participation through support or care workers to help disabled people develop social interaction skills such that they can face these situations better in the future.

We wanted to kick off our new 'Motivation Monday' series with none other than one of our very own legend 'Dylan Alcott'
Dylan was born with a tumour wrapped around his spinal cord and had to face many struggles growing up as a paraplegic. Sport changed Dylan's life forever.

Dylan has represented Australia in basketball and tennis. He has won gold medals at the paraplegic games. Recently, in tennis, Dylan became only the third professional and first men's tennis player to win the 'Golden Slam'.

In addition to sports, Dylan hosts his own radio show and has set up a foundation to help young disabled kids break the barriers of entry into various fields.

He was conferred the prestigious 'Australian of the Year' award for his exploits in sport and also his work outside sport.

Dylan has been vocal about the need for the NDIS to be funded further and has been a champion spokesperson for disability rights and inclusion.

Good on ya Dylan, Keep Inspiring!!
