Breathwork classes can feel great in the moment.
An hour of guided practice helps you down‑regulate, release tension, and leave lighter.

Beyond that immediate relief, there’s another layer.

Functional and therapeutic breathwork builds lasting skills, the ability to regulate your own breathing, and nervous system whenever you need it.

This approach changes physiology over time.
It reshapes your relationship with your body, your emotions, your mind, and your nervous system.

These are the tools I’ve learned and relied on throughout my own journey. They’re practical, portable, and adaptable, whether you’re at work, at home, during performance, or in those in‑between moments.

Carrying the shopping upstairs, running, training, or any kind of exertion becomes easier when your breath supports you.

With the right tools, you can move through life with more energy, focus, and resilience.

This morning started with my usual walk, talk, and swim, straight off the pier into the water. It’s fresh, not Scotland cold, but cold enough to wake you up.

That first shock brings a little panic breathing, then you settle, and it makes you feel alive. I’ve done a lot of cold water swimming and ice baths, and I still love how they activate the body and mind.

On my way back I met two women who asked how the water was. We chatted, and I shared that I’m a breathwork coach. I’ve worked with runners, triathletes, climbers, and more, helping them use breathwork to improve performance and recovery.

It was great to connect, share my story, and point them to my page, who knows, maybe they’ll want to explore one‑to‑one coaching.

I also mentioned the modules I’m creating for people who want accessible tools for nervous system regulation, mobility, and expansion.

Not everyone can work with me directly, so these modules will make the practices available to more people. They’ll be released soon, once everything is packaged and ready.

🚘 Ten hours of driving and I can feel the compression in my stomach and breath.

Sitting for so long changes patterns,
sometimes I catch myself holding my breath or slipping into mouth breathing.

That tension affects digestion, focus, and energy.

The difference now is awareness.
I notice it, I correct it, and I use the tools I’ve built to reset.

Even after starting at 4am, I feel refreshed because I’ve taken care of myself along the way.

Its a journey, just like driving.
And every breath is part of it.

🌬 Do you know that overbreathing causes anxiety?

Not the big hyperventilation style of breathing that some people use for arousal or altered states, but the more subtle kind that shows up in everyday life.

Most people don’t realise they’re overbreathing. Sitting at a desk, short and shallow breaths, chest rising and falling quickly. 20, 30, 40, even 50 breaths per minute.

It’s not slow, deep, intentional breathing. It’s fast, upper chest breathing that keeps the body in a low-level state of stress.

The magic number for breathing at rest is 5.5 seconds in, 5.5 seconds out. That’s an 11‑second cycle, about 5.5 breaths per minute.

Go measure yourself. Count your breaths for one minute and see where you’re at. Post your results in the comments, and let’s talk breath.
