Relapse doesn’t mean you’ve failed.
If you’ve found yourself slipping back into old patterns, remember:

You’ve already proven you can take steps forward.
What you’ve learned in recovery is still within you.
Every day is a new chance to begin again.
Relapse is not the end. It’s a sign to reach out, to reconnect with support, and to be gentle with yourself.

If introducing new foods feels tough or your child is very picky, you’re not alone — and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself.
Here are some quick tips!
1. Be patient and gentle- don’t rush or pressure — just keep offering it calmly.
2. Make it fun!
3. Offer small tastes
4. Stay consistent but flexibleOffer the new food regularly without making it a battle.
5. Model positive eating-Eat the new food yourself with enthusiasm. Kids pick up on your cues more than you think!

Reach out anytime if you want support or just need someone to talk through the challenges. Together, we can help your child enjoy a wider variety of foods at their own pace.

You are so much more than a number on a scale.
Your worth isn’t measured in kilos and it certainly doesn’t define who you are. If that number has been holding too much power in your life, it might be time to step back and seek support from someone who sees you — not just the scale.

Eating disorders don’t discriminate. They affect people of all ages, body types, genders, and backgrounds and they often present differently in adolescents compared to adults.
Everyone deserves support.

Have you been stuck in fear around food for years?
Tired of being treated like you're just a number?
Craving support that actually sees the full picture — not just a meal plan?
You're not alone.And you're not the problem.
I work with people every day who feel unseen, misunderstood, and exhausted by the system. As both a counsellor and dietitian, I take a completely different approach, one that’s grounded in compassion, curiosity and care.
Recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s messy. It’s real. And it’s possible.
✨ If you’re looking for support that actually gets it — I have limited spaces available. Let’s talk.

Adolescence is a time of significant changes: physical, emotional, and social. For some teens, these changes can trigger disordered eating patterns that are hard to spot and even harder to talk about.
At Stepping Stones with Helen Dean, I offer compassionate, age-appropriate support for teens and their families.

In my work with children, teens, and adults experiencing feeding difficulties, fussy eating, or ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), exposure therapy has become a gentle and effective approach. Each person is unique. That’s why sessions are tailored with care, patience, and respect for sensory needs, trauma histories, and personal autonomy.

In therapy, we explore not just the behaviour, but what sits beneath it. The fear, the need for control, the identity wrapped in “being good.”
Recovery isn’t about snapping out of habits, but gently understanding them and building a new relationship with food, body, and self. You don’t have to untangle this alone.

Individualised care can support your young person, and you, in reconnecting with who they truly are. It’s not about fixing them. It’s about seeing them beyond the eating disorder. I work with individuals of all ages and neurotypes, creating space for healing that is evidence-based, feels safe, and deeply human.

Why eating out with an eating disorder isn’t “just a meal!

It can feel terrifying.
Not because someone’s being fussy or difficult—
But because their brain is overwhelmed with fear, rules, and guilt.

💭 Menus
💭 Portion sizes
💭 Unpredictability
💭 Pressure to act “normal”

Eating disorders thrive on control.
Eating out disrupts that—and it’s scary.

But with planning, support, and compassion…
🍽️ Eating out can become part of recovery.

💬 Be patient—with yourself or someone you love.
If this hits close to home, you’re not alone.
📍 I’m here to support you. Enquire today.
