We’re excited to be part of the Wyndham Health Festival next Saturday 14 June — and even more thrilled that this year’s event is raising funds for our community 💙

The Wyndham Health Foundation is aiming to raise $85,000 to help us purchase lung function testing equipment for Werribee Mercy Hospital, supporting early diagnosis and better outcomes for people at risk of lung cancer.

Come down to Ironbark Fields, catch some great talks from our senior leaders, test your handball skills, and be part of something that’s helping our local community breathe a little easier.

Check out the program and plan your day: https://wyndhamhealthfestival.com.au/

The Wyndham Health Festival is next Saturday and after a bit of rejigging and welcoming some exciting new organisations, check out the final program! We're very excited to host our community at Ironbark Fields next weekend.

We've got a stellar line up of speakers who will be upstairs, the synthetic pitch at Ironbark Fields will be abuzz with a number of different activities (perfect your handball technique with the crew at North Melbourne FC) and we've got an incredible number of local and national organisations joining us to connect with the community and teach you all about health.

Check out our official website and starting locking in your activities for the day: https://wyndhamhealthfestival.com.au/

We’re thrilled to share some wonderful news! The Special Care Nursery at Werribee Mercy Hospital has received eight new recliner chairs, giving parents a comfortable place to stay by their baby’s side. These recliners support skin-to-skin care, breastfeeding, and bonding—so important for the health and development of both mums and babies.

New mum Dhvani said: “It’s made a huge difference. While recovering from the birth, I can cuddle my baby, be close to her, and breastfeed in comfort.”

These recliners are already making a big difference, but we’re not stopping here. Our goal is to have one recliner for every bedside. Thank you to everyone helping us provide the best possible care for families.

We’re proud to acknowledge the achievements of Dr Lester Mascarenhas, founder of Utopia Refugee and Asylum Seeker Health, who was recently honoured as a Medicare Champion at the Stronger Medicare Awards!

Utopia Refugee Health provides essential healthcare to refugee and asylum seeker communities, offering services such as GP and specialist care, on-site interpreters, and community outreach. Since 2020, Werribee Mercy Hospital has partnered with Utopia through a monthly outreach paediatric clinic led by Dr Dan Mason.

Dr Mason highlighted the critical role Werribee Mercy Hospital plays in this partnership: “We serve as a conduit between the clinic and the hospital, and our support has enabled Utopia to expand services to include a registrar and social worker, as well as offering consultative advice to Utopia staff.”

Reflecting on this collaboration, Dr Mason said, “Dr Mascarenhas is a strong advocate for those in need and someone whose values we should all aspire to.”

This recognition highlights the vital work being done at Utopia Refugee Health and the power of partnerships like ours to make a meaningful difference. Congratulations to Dr Mascarenhas and the Utopia team on this well-deserved honour!

Thanks to Mercy Health’s Graduate Nursing Program, Holly Jane Silvester and Janice O'Brien started their nursing careers at Werribee Mercy Hospital and now work in their local community.

Our Mercy Health Graduate Programs are an integral part of our commitment to developing our future healthcare workforce in nursing, midwifery and mental health. Holly Jane and Janice gained hands-on experience, and support as they transitioned from students to nurses.

While Holly Jane and Janice’s nursing journeys couldn’t have been more different, both have led them to Werribee Mercy Hospital. The graduate nurses recently spoke to the Wyndham Star Weekly about their careers so far. Read the full piece here: bit.ly/4aas9vd

You too can start your career with Mercy Health and receive guidance from experienced and dedicated healthcare professionals who are driven to support you to become the best nurses and midwives you can be.
