In 2023 we launched our second Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) as part of our commitment to improving health outcomes for First Nations peoples in Australia.

Since that time, we have made significant progress in supporting efforts to close the gap in health equity, uplifting existing efforts to purchase goods and services from First Nations suppliers and increasing efforts to make Bupa a more culturally safe and welcoming place for First Nations employees within the organisation.

Thanks to our RAP Working Group, First Nations Employee Advocacy Network, external First Nations advisors and all of our people who supported the delivery of our RAP. There is more work to do, and we look forward to sharing our next steps when we launch our third Stretch RAP in the coming weeks.

We have teamed up with the Australian Paralympic Team to help our Bupa Optical optometrists play a part in spotting and supporting future Para athletes.

Through our Para Sport Pathways webinar series, Bupa optometrists are gaining practical knowledge on how to identify athletes, understand classification, and support their journey through Para sport.

The March sessions were led by Tim Logan, alongside Paralympic medallist Jaryd Clifford, whom he has guided at multiple Games, bringing real experience and insight to the conversation.

Because for many athletes, the journey starts here:

One of the strengths of being part of a global healthcare organisation like Bupa is learning from each other, no matter where we’re based.

Through our Clinical Exchange program, our UK and Australian aged care nurses recently spent six weeks swapping roles, sharing different approaches to care, clinical practice and ways of working.

UK nurse Anuwinder said: "For me, it was about stepping outside my comfort zone and seeing care through a different lens. I’ve come back with new ideas, more confidence, and a fresh perspective I can bring to my team and our residents.”

And you can't come to Sydney and not see some of our landmarks, which the team also did.

It’s one of the ways we invest in our people so they can keep learning, growing and delivering great care for residents.

Global mobility opportunities are available across multiple locations and skillsets.

Rae Louise, dual Paralympian and ParaMatilda delivers the Bupa Try Para Sport program, creating space for people with disability to try different para sports and find their community.

One participant arrived unsure and a little shy. She left smiling, ready to sign up for para-powerlifting. Sometimes all it takes is one opportunity to find your place in sport.

There are more Bupa Try Para Sport events coming up.

Emma almost went into nursing, but a family friend suggested she look into oral health instead. One UniMelb Open Day and some work experience later and she was sold!

What she loves most about her job is preventative oral healthcare, helping stop dental problems before they can even start. She says tooth decay, gum disease and even oral cancer can be painless in the early stages so don’t get fooled into believing the myth of “no pain, no problem.”

“If you wait until your mouth hurts to come in, the treatment can be a lot more complex and expensive so make sure you book in those regular check-ups.”

And one thing that makes dental professionals cringe? “Using your teeth as tools. Bottles, packets and screws are all no go zones… teeth are for chewing food, that’s it.”

Outside the Bupa Dental’s 538 Collins st location, Emma loves a good Melbourne coffee, playing tennis and spending time outdoors enjoying nature.

We had an egg-stra special Easter celebration at our Windsor aged care home.

Our residents teamed up with each other for a good old-fashioned egg hunt… and let’s just say, the competition was no yolk.

From hiding spots to happy faces, it was all about connection, laughter and a few chocolate-fuelled wins.

“While I love chocolate, I make sure not to overdo it!” – Margaret

Easter is a time to enjoy food, family and traditions, so don’t feel guilty about indulging. The key is balance.

Dr Janice Tan shares three simple tips to get through the Easter period with a balanced mindset.

🔹Brush teeth after the chocolate
🔹Go easy on the alcohol
🔹Lean into autumn veggies like pumpkin and legumes

Remember, you don't need to choose between healthy eating and Easter traditions. It’s completely possible to enjoy both.

As communities across North Queensland and the Northern Territory continue to recover from devastating floods, we want them to know we’re here to support our affected customers with three months premium relief for eligible health insurance customers impacted by the floods.

Thank you to local emergency services, volunteers and communities who have come together to support one another during this time.

To help support recovery efforts, the Bupa Foundation has donated $30,000 to St Vincent de Paul Society (Vinnies Australia) in Katherine, helping provide immediate relief to local communities.

“Caring for people is my primary focus and I’m deeply motivated by the opportunity to do meaningful work that positively impacts people and the community.”

That’s the mindset that Bupa ADF Health Services Chief Operating Offer, Lucy Cordone, carries in her to the role and says it means you sometimes must get comfortable with the uncomfortable.

“It means being ready to listen and having a mindset that is open to challenging the status-quo.”

Lucy’s career started as a nurse, but her career shifted from emergency and critical care into the wider healthcare system in legal, risk, digital health and operational roles in resources, defence and social housing. This meant serving diverse communities with large geographically dispersed workforces.

“When it comes to maintaining a largescale workforce which spans our great country, I’ve learnt it’s important to be yourself and be open to new perspectives.”

“I know these qualities are important for all of us at Bupa as we deliver vital health services that contribute to the wellbeing of the men and women who serve to keep Australia safe.”
