Melbourne faces challenges maintaining its title of ‘World’s Most Liveable City’ as our population approaches 6M in the coming decades. This event may have a Melbourne focus but the outcomes translate to many cities and urban centres globally. This symposium will challenge future stakeholders to consider these issues, and devise practical solutions through Urban Ecology to enable planning, designi

ng and managing for a sustainable future. The symposium will address:
• Urban planning and transportation, green retention, ecosystem services
• Natural energy generation, storage, distribution, closed loop systems
• Human wellbeing, climate response, resilience and water security, urban determinants on health
• Small footprint food production, delivery, packaging and reuse alternate sources for nourishment
• Product Stewardship, empathetic design, landfill avoidance, circular economy
