Is there pressure at your table? 🍽️

Many families use pressure without even realising it – it’s often instinctive and comes from love. You want your child to eat well, enjoy food, and feel good around meals.

But pressure (even the well-meaning kind) can sometimes make feeding harder – increasing stress, reducing intake, and fuelling fussy eating cycles. 🙊

This post explores what pressure can look like – and why a responsive approach can help shift the dynamic.

At Babble & Munch, we work with families to create calmer, more connected mealtimes. If you’d like support that’s tailored to your child, we’re here to help 💛

🍓 How can feeding therapy support a child who is tube-fed?

At Babble & Munch, we help families navigate this journey with care, expertise, and responsive support. It’s not about "getting" a child to eat - it’s about helping them feel safe, curious, and capable, in their own time.

Whether you’re looking to support oral skill development, reduce mealtime stress, or explore tube weaning, we’re here to help.

🍓 Let’s talk about Responsive Feeding Therapy 🍓

Feeding difficulties are rarely just about food. They’re about trust, comfort, curiosity, and connection.

Responsive feeding therapy is a gentle, evidence-informed approach that supports children to build confidence and skills in eating, without pressure, bribes or battles.

It’s not about “getting” kids to eat.
It is about supporting their autonomy, respecting their pace, and guiding families through safe, connected mealtime experiences.

Feeding challenges are often just the tip of the iceberg 🧊

What we see on the surface - things like picky eating, food refusal or mealtime meltdowns - is only part of the picture.

Underneath, there may be deeper factors at play
💭 Sensory processing differences
💭 Gut discomfort or difficulty reading hunger cues
💭 Oral-motor skill challenges
💭 Anxiety or fear around mealtimes

At Babble & Munch, we look beyond the surface to understand what’s really going on and support the whole child (and family) through it.

If mealtimes feel hard - we’re here to help.

Support for infant and child feeding, swallowing and early communication skills

17/06/2025

Feeding isn't just about hunger. It’s about safety, regulation, connection, and skill.

Feeding is a neurodevelopmental process: involving the brain, the nervous system, sensory processing, coordination, skill development, nutrition, emotion regulation, and connection.

When a child experiences “feeding challenges”, it's not about "picky eating" or "bad habits."

It's often about how their brain and body are wired to experience the world, especially if medical concerns go undiagnosed and feeding skills are delayed.

Supporting feeding challenges means supporting the whole child, their brain, body, and being.
