It’s hard to imagine how one chicken o**m and one 17-year-old could bring the world so much joy. Egg Boy made that happen.

Learn Traditional Somali Weaving with local Somali residents. FREE & everyone is welcome!

Fridays at the Community Grocer Market
Carlton Social Housing Public Space, Melbourne

I took part today and, though for a moment we thought the wind was going to launch the shelter the weavers were creating into the air, it was a wonderful morning - come along!

Each week you will learn a new style of weaving with diverse materials from wood frame, to grass to recycled cloth and connect with a community of diverse and talented traditional artists and local residents.

January 25th – March 01, 2019.
10am-12 each Friday.
FREE. Materials supplied (though if you have yarn scraps to contribute they'd be welcome)
(extension of Drummond St. Carlton – map available on request)
Please register your participation by contacting Leisa Shelton LEISA at – fragment31@gmail.com.

Places are limited so please contact us to secure your place asap.

* Image - examples of weaving done by traditional weaver and Carlton resident Muhubo Sulieman.

GrrraHHHHH.
After this 'no more r**e' bunting by Wellington Craftivism Collective was defaced a few months ago just up the road from where Eurydice Dixon was to perform the night she was r**ed & murdered & where her alleged killer was captured by CCTV we put a call out for people to join us in a retaliatory street action. JUST ONE MAN responded. A couple dozen awesome women and non-binary folk joined got together and bombed the street with feminist street art & just one lone dude (the partner of another participant) helped out with photography.
Really hoping the show of men at the Reclaim Princes Park vigil on Monday will be less abysmal.
Vale Eurydice Dixon. Rest In Power.

Honestly, craft communities are the BEST

The pink sparkly yarn has been turned into a cuddly uterus. Special request from a lovely lady in Sydney who wanted something to hug as she went in for a hysterectomy. I hope it makes you feel a bit better Zoe! (Thanks to Craft Cartel for putting us in contact, this was super fun to make!)
