It’s Cricket Season!! 🏏
The long periods of gameplay, combined with explosive sprinting, jumping, throwing etc. puts a lot of sudden forces on the soft tissues of the body. Because of the heavy emphasis on running and throwing, the limbs are commonly affected, but side strains of the abdominal muscles are also very common.

In Part 2 of the Cricket Injury blog, Ned discusses Common Cricket Injuries, What Are They & What Can You Do?

Increased muscle tension associated with the symptoms of upper respiratory tract irritation is so common right now, especially with the flowering plants of the gardens still being in full bloom, the air full of pollen.
Attempting some slow stretches and mobilisations may aid in easing the unpleasant tightness held in muscles around the head, neck, shoulders and rib cage.
No wonder these muscles get tight when the upper respiratory tract is irritated or an infection is running it's course - they've been doing a lot of extra work they're unaccustomed to with all that spluttering! - Dr Soraya Burrows

Ever wondered...
How often should I be seeing my osteo?
Why do I need multiple management strategies?
What is self-management anyway?
If I am self-managing, do I even need to book an appointment?
What about maintenance treatment?

“Caring for others takes its toll, physical and mental/emotional. To make sure we can best care for our loved ones, we need to make sure we take care of ourselves, too”

In this blog, osteopath Dr Edmund Bruce-Gardner considers some of the emotional and physical impacts from being in a caring role, and how osteopathy can help.

I am always reminding my patients there is not necessarily a relationship between 'pain' and 'damage'. One of the reasons we often advise against getting a scan of a painful area is that such scans nearly always show *something*, but that does not mean it is the cause of your pain. Your brain, however, uses this as evidence of danger, and you feel more pain for longer. The chronic pain blog on our website explains in more detail: www.morelandroadclinic.com.au

For Ty King-Wall, a principal dancer at the Australian Ballet, the hardest bit of dealing with a chronic back injury was accepting that a significant cause of the injury was in his brain.

A Common Source Of Hand Wrist Pain: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS). The human hand is such a sensitive and specialised structure; anatomically complex and strategically engineered by time and nature, having the ability to create such varied and precise movements.

I imagine you will be reading this because you or someone close to you is pregnant, which case you are probably not going to be weirded-out by descriptions of basic biological processes and structures. If you are, I would recommend care with choice of your reading matter!

This is an immense topic, which we will have to deal with in several blogs...

“Pain & damage are not necessarily related”

When we talk about 'chronic pain', we're not just talking about pain that has been going on for a long time.
Chronic pain involves changes to the way that information is carried and processed in our bodies.
