🌟 Happy International Non-Binary People’s Day! 🌟

On July 14, we celebrate the beautiful diversity and unique experiences of non-binary individuals around the world. πŸŒˆπŸ’›

Non-binary people do not fit within the traditional binary understanding of gender. They may identify as both male and female, somewhere in between, or entirely outside these categories. This day is all about recognising and honouring their identities, stories, and contributions.
Let's continue to support and uplift non-binary voices, ensuring that everyone feels seen, respected, and valued. πŸ’œβœ¨

Barbie is launching its first doll with Type 1 diabetes, Mattel announced Tuesday.

The new doll features a continuous glucose monitor and insulin pump, two medical devices that people use, carry or wear when they have Type 1 diabetes, which is a chronic condition where the body doesn't make any or enough of the insulin hormone.

In addition to the doll, Barbie is also introducing two more dolls of Peloton fitness instructor Robin ArzΓ³n in the U.S. and model Lila Moss in the U.K., both of whom are Type 1 diabetes advocates.

NAIDOC Week 2025

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. You can support and get to know your local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities through activities and events held across the country.

A Memorable Day at the Footy with Encompass House Supports!

Wayne loved attending the MCG on Saturday to watch Carlton v North Melbourne with his Encompass House supports. Approximately 64,000 people were there, and the atmosphere was just electrifying! Wayne enjoyed every minute of the game. Thank you so much for sharing, Wayne!

As a not-for-profit, Encompass House were able to gift these AFL tickets to Wayne and his support worker. We look forward to our participants attending more upcoming games with FREE tickets.

Celebrating Disability Pride Month

Disability Pride Month happens every year in July to promote awareness, celebrate people with disability and encourages self-acceptance and embracing all disabilities.

The Disability Pride Month has its own flag, with its own meaning behind it. The five colours represent:

β€’ Green – Invisible and undiagnosed disabilities
β€’ Blue – Mental illness
β€’ White – Sensory disabilities
β€’ Yellow – Neurodiversity and development disabilities
β€’ Red – Physical disabilities

The diagonal line represents the cutting though the barriers people with disabilities face. The black background which represents the people with disabilities who have died due to ableism, violence, negligence, su***de, illness, and any other reason.
