What fun facts do you know about massage?

14/11/2021

"DOES THIS HELP?"
*please answer "Y" or "N" to help my page.

TRUTH: We have to get away from thinking that muscles work ALONE.

Movement is created by muscles working together in groups and in predictable orders. You can use this understanding to help us explain why an exercise is creating pain/tension in places we don't expect it to.

For example, to propel us forward when running we need to extend from our back hip. This should be a movement DOMINATED by our glute maximus. Unfortunately, many runners have weak glutes.

Your brain doesn't just say, "OH WELL...I GUESS WE WON"T BE RUNNING TODAY."

No, instead it follows a predictable pattern of asking friendly neighbor muscles to take on the role the glute.

PROBLEM: These muscles were not designed to take this job on!

When this happens, you start having conversations about LOW BACK PAIN, GLUTE PAIN AND HAMSTRING STRAINS.
