1 Hour Walks

1 Hour Walks We are a small group who walk on Thursday mornings 9.30-10.30am. The walks are generally within approx. a 30min drive of Upper Beaconsfield.

The walks start at different places each week, all within around a 30min drive of Upper Beaconsfield and are generally 3-4km long. Our goal is to get out and about each week, to walk, chat, and see some beautiful local spots, all while reaping the many benefits that walking has to offer. We welcome new members of all ages and fitness levels. Our pace, however, is more on the gentle side, with stop

s to look at the views and nature's wonders, and to take photos, so if you are looking for a hardcore workout, we are probably not the group for you :)

Surprisingly lovely weather for this morning's walk at Cardinia Creek Parklands. A nice flat gravel path, stunning gum trees, the sun shining, green hills as a backdrop and wonderful company, what else could you ask for?

Another chilly morning walk today in Berwick at Wilson Botanic Gardens. Very quiet in the park, but a few unexpected animals were spotted on the way back to the cars. There was a jungle themed display on for the school holidays. Freya (dog) was very interested in the Panda at the event entrance, and a number of other jungle animals could be seen in the distance.

No rain, which is always a bonus, and quite a few lovely other dogs for our little pack to say hello to.

It rained solidly all day Wednesday so I was hoping there was none left for Thursday, and that’s exactly what happened! The weather was lovely and the sun was out , making the stroll among the tree ferns just stunning.

We had a lovely walk to the wishing well, then while some walkers retraced their steps to collect something accidentally left at the wishing well, the rest of us had a walk around Lake Nobelius.

We did a walk today that we hadn't done for 2 years. Not sure why it's been so long, but luckily, we remembered which way to go. The most exciting part was when one of the walkers spotted a snake next to the path! It's a popular spot for them, right next to a large pond, and this one looked like it had a nice breakfast and was having a sunbake. So keep an eye out when you're walking now the weather is getting warmer.

Also saw some huge wacky-looking plants.

Forecasts earlier in the week weren't promising but the walk started with sunshine and a light breeze. Half way around and the clouds were looking ominous but we got a few drops of rain towards the end, and even they disappeared. I love the combo of sunshine & dark clouds and there was lots of birdlife around the ponds today too.

Finally got power back yesterday after the storm on Tues 13th YAY!
Today was looking a bit warm with hot winds& a high fire danger day forecast so our walk was out of the hills in the closest patch of shade, Akoonah Park.
We walked in the opposite direction to normal so that we'd be walking in the shade for the last part, which worked well. Thankfully, there wasn't a lot of wind, but it was starting to pick up by the time we left. A crew was doing a bit of tree pruning on the way home.

Another gorgeous day, this time on the Pakenham Aquaduct trail. Lots of butterflies and little birds flying around in the sunshine. Freya the Wonderdog indicated the presence of various animals I couldn't see off the track today, then right near the end of our walk, she pointed me to this prickly little fella just off the track. Can you spot him (or her)?

The weird weather continues and thankfully my choice of location paid off with mild conditions, not too hot & no rain. The flies were the only annoying feature as usual. Stupidly I'd forgotten to bring my gift from Ruth (pictured below) which worked wonderfully for her and is now in my car where it should've been all along 😃

The weather this morning was just perfect for walking 💚 I picked a walk that I hoped wouldn’t have flooded paths & luckily the only issue we faced was a fallen tree which was easy to get past.
By the time we got back to the carpark it was filling up with people looking to enjoy the lovely weather & the always beautiful Emerald Lake Park.
