Alisya Rae Music Studio
Term 2 Performance at Renaissance Living
The talented youngsters from the Alisya Rae Music Studio made a triumphant return to Renaissance Living on Thursday last week with ten students performing for an audience of around 50 residents family and friends.
David and Robyn were busy behind the bar both pre and post show ensuring everyone had a drink of choice and the bowls of snacks were topped up at all times.
All our young performers were just terrific but a special shout out to little Eve Sankey, whose guitar seems bigger than she is, playing and singing Soldier by Fleurie. Raf who continued his journey of great rock, playing Highway To Hell by AC/DC. And Lily who sang Electricity from Billy Elliot which is one of my favourite songs.
As usual, to round out the evening Alisya herself took the stage and performed the Beatles version of Till There Was You. It was the perfect end to a wonderful show and a great evening.

Last week the Veneto Choir gave a fabulous performance at Renaissance Living. The history and stories of these Italian Classic Folk songs were beautifully explained and are such great pieces of music (and not speaking Italian) we were easily able to sing along!

As the seasons change so does life at Renaissance as our G&T on the balcony becomes wines in the lounge by the piano. Ably hosted by David, it’s a great weekly event for good company and good conversation over a glass or two of complimentary wine.

🎶 Alisya Rae Music Studio – Term 1 Performances at Renaissance Living 🎶
On Tuesday afternoon, Renaissance Living residents, family, and friends were treated to a fantastic performance by the talented students of Alisya Rae Music Studio.

Before the show, guests enjoyed a relaxed pre-show gathering with complimentary wine, soft drinks, and snacks—just one of the many little luxuries of life at Renaissance.

With a mix of classics from The Beatles and The Troggs to contemporary favourites by Adele and Olivia Rodrigo, ten students took to the stage, bringing energy, skill, and heart to every note. It’s a testament to Alisya’s passion for music and teaching—her students not only grow in confidence and ability but also form friendships and lasting connections.

The evening closed with something truly special—Alisya Rae herself performing her original song "Like I Do." A trained opera singer with a voice that captivates, she had the audience hanging on every note. (She’s also available for events, singing everything from opera to contemporary and original music!)

We love hosting these performances—not just for the incredible entertainment, but because they strengthen our ties with the local community, from young musicians to talented local artists. It’s these connections that make Renaissance Living such a special place.

We can’t wait to welcome Alisya and her students back for their Term 2 performance! 🎵

A big congratulations to our superstar resident Meridith Allan who received the 2025 Karen Bloomberg Award at the AGOSCI Conference in Adelaide
The AGOSCI is an organisation that advocates, promotes, and educates in multimodal communication (people that use methods other than or as well as speech to communicate)
It’s a terrific not for profit organisation that helps people, families, and communities all across Australia, that have complex communication needs.
The Karen Bloomberg Award is bestowed upon a person who has demonstrated a high level of commitment to low tech/unaided AAC in Australia, in the areas of research, implementation, or practice.

NeuAudio at Renaissance Living
On Thursday, Jeffery Pang and Nicole Trurley from NeuAudio https://neuaudio.com.au/ came to Renaissance and gave us an enlightening presentation. They explained the links between untreated hearing loss and adverse health outcomes, including loneliness, depression, and dementia. Jeffery, an expert in the field, shared his experience working with renowned professionals like Andrew Campbell and cited numerous studies. He highlighted the real risks of untreated hearing loss and how they can be significantly reduced with proper intervention.
While some of the information might seem alarming, the facts are clear: properly prescribed and fitted hearing aids are an effective solution. Despite a lingering stigma, modern hearing aids are technologically advanced, highly impactful, and nearly invisible. Just as many of us now rely on glasses for vision, hearing aids should be embraced in the same way.
Both Jeffery and Nicole joined us for our usual Drinks on The Balcony and some terrific and quite varied discussions were had in a lovely relaxed setting.

Another terrific performance and a wonderful show!
Victoria Mantynen shines in a new show by Little Pine Tree Productions, captivating everyone at Renaissance Living Surrey Hills. Following on from her magical Dame Vera Lynn tribute performance, Victoria's new show “Playing Second Fiddle, Minor Role – Major Song” was amazing. The music, the songs, the costume changes, her magical presence, and the vocals… just wow.
