Arizbeth Dionisio Ambrosio has received a well-earned promotion for her extraordinary compassion in the wake of Hurricane Otis. Deployed to Acapulco after the catastrophic Category 5 storm, the officer—and mother—went far beyond the call of duty.

While assisting victims, she came across a four-month-old baby boy who had gone without food for an extended time and was crying from hunger. Realizing the child’s mother was unable to breastfeed, Dionisio, who had recently given birth herself and was still able to nurse, offered to breastfeed the infant.

Her deeply human response to a desperate situation earned widespread praise. Earlier this week, Dionisio was officially promoted from policía primero to suboficial in recognition of her compassionate service.

New at Rambam: Therapy Dogs Helping New Moms Breastfeed 🐶👶

An unexpected new support team has joined the maternity ward at Rambam – therapy dogs. Their role? To help new mothers relax, reduce stress, and encourage breastfeeding.
***
The first meeting between mother and baby is magical – full of love, connection, and emotion. Often, that bond is sealed through breastfeeding, which nourishes the baby, supports immunity, and benefits the mom. But for many women, breastfeeding doesn’t come easily.

That’s where Rambam’s new service comes in. The hospital’s certified therapy dogs are now helping new mothers through the often stressful first days after childbirth. Their calming presence boosts endorphins, strengthens the immune system, and supports emotional well-being – all of which can positively impact breastfeeding.

“A therapy dog is a tool,” says Ella Aharonson-Rot, Head Nurse of the Neonatal Department and a certified lactation consultant. “Just being near the dog, feeling its warmth, can release endorphins and help women recover emotionally after birth.”

One new mom, Maria Martzaboy, was the first to try the service:
“I grew up with dogs, so the connection felt natural,” she shared. “It’s soothing, pleasant, and calming. Between pumping, nursing, frequent trips to the nursery, and just wanting to go home – it all creates mental stress. Anything that helps relieve that is a real gift.”

The initiative, which started during the war, is now gaining traction – turning therapy dogs into emotional and physical allies for new moms.

At Rambam, even the staff who are used to being surrounded by adorable newborns admit: these four-legged helpers are making a big impact.

Can we TALK about the fact that moms get overstimulated and it's mistaken for anger...

No, I'm not angry; I've heard mom 500 times since the minute I woke up, the tv is so loud, the washer is going, noises outside, there's laundry to fold, my house is a wreck, bills are due, I need gas in my car, there's crumbs on everything, dishes in the sink and I can feel it all

I'm not angry. I'm overstimulated and need a minute to myself

Motherhood is exhausting. No matter what someone always needs you Go to work; someone needs you, come home; someone needs you, go to sleep; someone needs you, shower time; someone needs you, going to the bathroom; someone needs you.

A child, a baby, an adult IM ALWAYS NEEDED.

I'm not angry. 💗 I'm overstimulated

Let me collect myself before you start to accuse me of being in a bad mood. I just need a minute

Last week the last of 3 eagerly awaited hypnobubs from my May courses, made his way into the outside world!! I still have yet to hear all about his journey into the world but I know his parents were so incredibly patient waiting for his arrival (even when others didn’t want to be so patient..). I’m so proud of this little guy’s dad (who is also a great friend of mine from waaay back) for being such an amazing support and advocate for his partner and I’m so very proud of mama for being so resilient and trusting her mothering instincts. What an amazing couple!! I wish them all the very best on the amazing journey that awaits them💕 . .

Sometimes our body and baby have other plans😊
As we know, we can only “plan” for the arrival of our little ones to a degree, the rest is up to our bodies, babies and…fate!
This latest new addition to the world decided his parents were ready enough to greet him that he didn’t even allow them to complete their course with me!! 😄💕
Welcome to the world little hypnobub, your parents didn’t finish preparing but they were already so very well prepared! I even told them so as our last class😉
Can’t wait to hear the long version of this family’s story💙🩵🤍 . .

Welcome to Bump 2 Babe

Hi! My name is Dahlia Lipson. I am a practicing Registered Nurse/Midwife with 7+ years’ experience and have loved everything about my job including meeting new people and making a positive difference in their lives.

I have always had a particular love for women’s health and childbirth but I must have always had a calling towards education. Classmates used to tell me “you’d make a great teacher Dahlia”. Well, they were right! Here I am now, a passionate Hypnobirthing Australia Practitioner!

As a midwife and mother of two and having experienced such wonderful labours and births, I know the importance of feeling positive about pregnancy, labour and birth whether completely natural or not. Drawing on years of techniques and philosophies, current evidence-based research and effective relaxation techniques, mothers, partners and their babies can all benefit from the hypnobirthing approach to childbirth.

It is my mission and absolute privilege to help equip women and their birth partners with the knowledge, tools and support to feel prepared for a calm, empowered, safe and positive birth experience no matter what turn their journey may take.
