Home Isolation, Heart Surgery and COVID-19
Are you safe during this unprecedented event that is Covid-19? All our staff are working remotely at present, so the office is not physically open. Just phone, and your call will be answered by one of our team.
If you are referred for surgery, our surgeons are still working. Cardiac and Thoracic surgery is mostly essential and often life saving, so will likely continue. For now, we are only deferring those things that are not compromising you too much. Things like mitral valve disease are an example of something that can often wait. This will allow the health system to deal with what we all hope will be a short (weeks to months) response to the pandemic that has taken over 30000 lives so far.
If you need to be out and about, then do so, but please try to minimise your contact with others, especially older Australians, as they are far more likely to suffer if infected than younger people. Our hospitals and health systems are getting prepared for a huge catastrophe. We can all stop it from becoming that by staying at home.
