For so many of us, connecting and understanding the nuances of how our unique bodies digest the world around us and within us is a keystone pathway to enhanced health and holistic wellness.

Do you suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome?

I have found the application of this research into FODMAPs (Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, monosaccharides and Polyos) to be really helpful for many people that are seeking better outcomes with their gut and bowel health and generally overall health. It offers some clear pathways to elimination and most often, more robust re-intergrated food options.

Most people benefit from working with supportive, experienced and broadly trained practitioners to guide and mentor the journey.

I often combine this body of work to establish distinct intolerances and sensitivity and load doses of otherwise poorly tolerated foods with bio resonance therapy for finer tuning. The clarity and food freedom for clients following a good 6-8 week journey is the unicorn they've been searching for.

And now I have become certified as a FODMAPing practitioner and have been utilising bioresonance in addition for many clients with such great results. It's a wonderful pairing toolkit when lost in what feels like a complex marketplace of all the dos and not to dos'!

Autumn. Equinox. Mabon.

Today make time to revere that impermanence reigns our human mortal earthly experiences.

That we are indeed the truest form of change and transition personified in flesh and bone.

And that our flesh and bone, our mind and matter, our spirit and energy is always naturally seeking the rhythms of homeostasis . It’s our natural form and its genius is to be celebrated.

For this balance and equal expression of our dualities, of night and day and all things measured is our medicine today.

Today the sun will follow the line of the celestial equator intercepting the ecliptic at 8:01pm AEDT in our part of the world.

Today our Sun will journey through the many ceremonially and ritually built structures on this earth today with the precision of our equal measures.

An abundant and grateful energy. present and as equally fleeting.

As of tomorrow we begin the contraction, the descent, the letting go, pruning of the excess, stripping back and furling down.

Find a presence in your day to day connections to witness the subtle changes in the palette around you, as mother nature begins to contract and complete a growth cycle in this coming season of Autumn. Returning life’s expression back to the earth from where it began. Letting go. The shedding of this past cycle.

What falls to ground, is reclaimed as the kindling that will fuel the warming embers in the fires of the coming winter. Trust in the process of change and transitional moments.

Embrace your forms of impermanence in this season of autumn.

Change is certain.

What are the restorative nutritional needs of your body in Winter?

In the season of Winter the needs of your body are highly regenerative and restorative. It is a time of great slumber, an opportunity to rest, to process, to heal.

The vital force of winter is waned down, turned in, as our sun is at its shyest tilt away from our sacred part of our earth. The need to fuel the internal fires, to keep warm, to soothe, to nourish, to assist in restoring are our most important needs to consider during our Winter experience.

During Winter the yang energy is at its lowest ebb and our yin energy at its height. It is a time where the energies of the earth turn inward and so too are the energies and vital force of the body. With shorter days, minimum solar energy and deep dark nights, cooler and often wetter climates, the Winter needs of the body become internalised and there is an instinctual physiological need to maintain heat, in order to regenerate and restore. This natural contraction of heat inward, leaves the body susceptible to the influences of cold and other external forces. Moving vital energy away from other systems.

We tend to seek activities and actions that are yin, quiet walks in nature, more rest, sleep, meditation and creative therapy. Being conscious of protecting the yang, by eating lots of warm, well cooked, nourishing soups and stews and keeping the body warm and protected against the cold. Much like fuelling our inner fires and stoking the heat.

Take the time to acknowledge your relationship with nature today and tomorrow.

The winter solstice offers us a gateway into the introspective self. We have been retreating down into this winter space where rest and the need to fortify and restore the spirit is this seasonal rhythm is the energy and vital force of natures flow.

In acknowledging the life giving force of the sun today in its contractedness, may it still be potent enough to hold your eternal flame and fire within. So that you may be divinely guided into a space where you can be present in the murmurs of your being and stoke your life's vision and mission with grace and humility.

Stay warm, sleep, dream and cultivate your potential for the coming season of growth. It is a time to be truely present and embodied. To be still somewhat. To pause a little. To offer yourself to opportunity to feel some space.

Our sunstar will glow for a mere 9 hours, 32 minutes and 27 seconds and the exact moment the southern hemisphere is at its furthest tilt from the Sun will be at 6.50am AEST this Friday am. We will have reached our edge!

Blessing on your winter solstice day/night. May you feel the beauty in the majestic darkness and see the shimmering where the light reaches. Celebrate how you've met and overcome your challenges. Feed your body, your heart, your soul some warming nourishing goodness that restores your shining light within.

How do you nourish your mind, body and spirit through the depths of winter?

We are just ebbing into the edge of our winter season, waning down our suns energy as we approach the deep winter solstice later in the month of June.

We have begun reclining back under the covers and taking refuge in the warmth of our homes, our families and ourselves. The days are short, the nights are dark and long. Our bodies are seeking the opportunity to rest, fortify and to reserve energy.

It is a time of the year that many of us struggle to maintain adequate immunity, struggle to source motivation and we feel the presence of our bodies vulnerabilities. Winter can also bring up emotional feelings of being disconnected, dreary, unmotivated and uninspired.

Yet all of this can be managed and nurtured with a winter nutritional protocol. Nourishing yourself with foods aligned to nature, to the seasons, to what your body needs most, is your best form of preventative healthcare.

Our palates are also naturally changing with the season, desiring warming and hearty foods that sustain us for long nights of sleep and rest.

Winter immunity is one of our bodies biggest priorities this time of year and keeping colds, flus and infections at bay can be greatly influenced and supported by your nutritional behaviours and choices.

So… what’s going on in your kitchens this month?

MUSHROOMS

Fabulous for the immune system (the lungs and kidneys also) mushrooms are highly nutritive and a great source of B vitamins. Mushrooms are their best in Autumn up to and around our Winter Solstice.

Mushrooms dry and store well and can make simple hearty meals and amazing broths. So get mushroom growing and or seeking.

Reishi mushrooms are the most prized and recommended mushroom as a nutritive specific for its immune modulating compounds. Yet many other varieties have specific immunological functions.

Reishi can help with sleep anxiety and the nervous system in general. Chaga inflammation and the ageing process, Turkey Tail, Sh*take, Cordyceps and Lions Mane all have their unique immune nourishing applications so check these fungi’s out.

Let’s play in the deli section for a minute, in a common big supper market chain. Laden with freshly shaved hams all varying prices, slight variations in cured flavours. But do you look deeper? Deeper than the pricing and whats on sale and its flavour notes?
Have you taken note of the origin of these products? In the smallest of prints, like it’s not important, hiding, yet there for us all to know if we choose to enquire further.
Are you shocked to know that in this photo only 2 of these hams are Australian grown? The rest are all off shore products. And trust me it often takes a minute to scan them all to find them. Farmed, fed, bred and procured off shore. They are often the cheapest and most promoted options. Yet for many, this isnt even considered when buying their so called fresh hams. Check this out next time your standing at the deli section. Or buying cheese, milks, fruit and vegetables. Where is your food coming from?
So my message to you today is to take some time in learning about what are you really investing in when it comes to you buying power and influence. Take the time to read the fine print. And don’t get sucked in.
You dollars are precious. Spend them wisely. Support local industry. Our farmers are getting fu**ed over!
Today, buy some ham, some bread, milk and cheese and some fresh fruit and veges today from a more local, independent provider and know that your precious dollars, your investment is going back into an economy, an industry that will otherwise die.
Buy wise, be connected, be informed and procure your food that is aligned to your values and make it all matter.
Good luck out there in the sea of information, consumption, possibility and opportunity. Discernment is your best friend.
