Since July 2025, ACC has been donating Mother and Baby Packs to the very remote Memang Health Centre in Mondulkiri Province, Cambodia. These packs, consisting of a baby mattress with mosquito net, nappies, clothes and new sarongs for mothers, are given to the Indigenous Bunong families who come from the surrounding villages to give birth. They cost around $45USD per pack. As subsistent farmers, many of the families do not have enough resources to buy the necessities for a new baby and had been relying on the kindness of the staff at the Health Centre.

We are trying to raise awareness of the inequity of health care in the rural areas of Cambodia and we would like raise money for upgrades to the Memang Health Centre, including a small outdoor kitchen for the families of patients who are being treated at the centre.

Many thanks to Balwyn Rotary Club for their generous monthly donation towards the Mother and Baby Packs.

All donations are tax deductible.

Day 9 & 10: Ou Kranlanh Kindergarten project. Last July, Kim Bunthann invited two of our committee members to visit Ou Kralanh school in Siem Reap Province.
Bunthann explained that the kindergarten classes were currently being held in an outdoor makeshift classroom, completely open to the elements We then met with the Principal of the school who asked us to help create a new learning space for the children. Rather than starting from scratch, we decided to renovate a long-abandoned building that had fallen into disrepair due to rain and flooding. Before we arrived in Cambodia, local workers restored the building's integrity by fixing the roof, raising the floor, and adding tiles to the rooms and verandah. We have so far spent two days painting the building, inside and out. We have also contributed to the school's inaugural flagpole, the Principal telling us proudly that it was the first in the Kralanh province!

Day 6: Blind Association, Phnom Penh landfill community and Horais dorm.

Another busy day for our team. We had a sleep in (9am start) and then made our way to the Blind Association. The centre is an unfunded centre for Cambodians who have either been born blind or acquired blindness through disease or injury (landmines, work place accidents). Currently we donate $500USD per month for food staples. They raise money for the centre by singing on the street or massage services. We are currently looking for a Cambodian sponsor.

After lunch at Pu Rock, we headed to the landfill community for discussion about our ongoing involvement with the medical centre that we built about 2 years ago. We are going to increase our services there by employing our friend Dyna to add to the nursing and medical staff and also provide emergency funding for residents who do not have a poverty card (free health care). We will also provide hospital food packs for residents who have to go in to hospital. Food is not provided during a hospital stay so many residents will not present to the emergency department. We are also going to help with the costs of childbirth for the women who also don’t have a poverty card ($100 per baby) and provide a mother and baby pack similar to those that we provide in Mondulkiri province. Thanks to Dyna Khiev for co-ordinating this. You’re a gem.

Finally, we visited the Horais dorm where some of our sponsored students live. It is a safe and loving dorm for students from the country who are new to Phnom Penh. Peter handed out more computers from Technology Core and we were treated to some beautiful songs and some amazing hospitality. A late finish but completely worth it.

Day 5: Bek Chan Kindergarten renovation continues.
The weather was on our side today with cloudy skies, coolish temperatures and a gentle breeze. Caitlyn, Sophie and Paul continued their magnificent mural while Peter, Kosal and Ty dug trenches for the “caterpillar”. Ros, Jacqui and Margaret continued painting the tyre animals. Our procurement officer, Chris, did a great job buying the concrete, a wheelbarrow and some more paint. Today’s shout out goes to Sophan and Johann for mixing the concrete to secure the tyres.

In the evening, the team went to the holy church’s new education centre to help with their English classes. We had a lot fun with the children. We also handed out the 7 computers kindly donated by Technology Core.

Laurie is back on board tomorrow, yay.

Day 4: Technically a rest day but a few of the team went visit to the cemetery community in Phnom Penh at the request of Kosal. The people here were relocated from the river and were forced to build their community around the tombs of fallen Vietnamese soldiers. At the request of the leadership team of this community, we have been asked to help support them by helping build a community space with a library and area for the children to play. It is vibrant community despite the challenges of the living space.

Days 1-3 of our January 2026 project.

Day One: Bek Chan Kindergarten.
We were welcomed to the kindergarten by the Principal who invited us to continue with the rejuvenation project we commenced in 2024. Sophie, Paul and Caitlyn started on the new mural while Laurie, Jacqui, Margaret, Ros and Mesa prepped the tyres for the new playground. Peter toiled away digging trenches for the tyres. Et Kosal our photographer friend joined us in the afternoon to document our progress and help Peter with the trenches.

*Special shout out to Laurie and our dear leader Chris who were both ill but also helped throughout the day 🤗

Day Two: Hygiene and head lice treatment at Botum Soriya Primary School, Takeo.
Today we treated over 100 children for head lice. We were helped by Rysa, Dyna, Pisely, Herseth and Kric, students from Ratakaniri province studying in Phnom Penh Caitlyn was also able to see first hand how the boards that her dad donated were being utilised. Technology Core

Day Three: Hygiene and head lice treatment in Kampot province. Today we travelled by bus to Sambath’s village for another hygiene clinic. This was a new project initiated by Sambath, an alumni of our student sponsorship programme. We treated over 170 children and provided hygiene bags to take home. We also donated books and stationery to the local children. We had many helpers including ex-students from UNACAS, Makara, Chita and Dyna and their children as well as 5 current students from Horais Dorm, Thongsy, Kimlay, Chakriya, Nary and Hay.

Thanks to all the students that helped us. We are quite a small team this year and the extra manpower was greatly appreciated.
