Legacy is not found in what we take, but in what we give back. Today, we honor the memory of Sigung Richard Bustillo, who passed on March 30, 2017. Through every technique taught and every student mentored, his spirit lives on. Sigung Ricardo Vargas carries that torch, not just to remember a legend, but to ensure his wisdom endures. The legacy is ours to protect. Train. Teach. Pass it on.

LAST NIGHT WAS ABOUT ONE THING: THE WEAPON YOU ALREADY HAVE. 🥊

We put everything else aside. No fancy footwork, no power shots. Just hour after hour of JKD’s Leading Hand, the JKD jab, the lead straight, the control, the endless, mesmerizing speed.

It was challenging. Humbling, even. To strip away all the tools and focus solely on the first line of attack and defense. To feel the burn in the shoulder, to drill the timing until it felt like a rhythm in your bones.

But more than that? It was FUN. There’s a pure joy in mastering the fundamental, in finding the universe of possibilities in a single, sharp, direct movement.

Al acercarse el final de este año siento la necesidad de pausar, reflexionar y agradecer.

Gracias a Dios, por su misericordia inquebrantable y su generosidad infinita a lo largo de estas décadas. Él ha sido el arquitecto de este sueño, la fuerza en cada paso y la luz en cada nuevo camino. Sin su gracia, nada de esto sería posible.

El 2025 ha sido un año de hitos significativos, de celebración de raíces y de expansión de frutos. Me llena de emoción recordar:

· La celebración de un legado: Conmemoramos el 20º aniversario de nuestro viaje en el Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do con tres históricas Mega-Clases JKD. Fueron momentos de intensa energía, comunidad y reflexión sobre las enseñanzas que nos han moldeado. ¡Gracias a cada uno que sudó, aprendió y celebró con nosotros!
· La siembra para el futuro: En nuestra Legacy Academy en Australia, tuvimos la inmensa alegría de promover a nuevos instructores de JKD. Ver a esta nueva generación asumir con pasión y compromiso la responsabilidad de guiar a otros es la mayor garantía de que el legado continuará vivo y creciendo.
· El regreso a las raíces, un círculo que se cierra: Un viaje cargado de emoción nos llevó de vuelta a Colombia. Realizar un evento especial de JKD para honrar la memoria del lugar que fue el origen de nuestro proyecto internacional fue profundamente conmovedor. Fue un homenaje al punto de partida, un reconocimiento a la tierra y a las personas que vieron nacer esta visión.

Un agradecimiento inmenso a mi familia y a mis amigos de toda la vida. Ustedes han sido el soporte inquebrantable, los patrocinadores no solo con recursos, sino con fe, paciencia y amor incondicional. Este sueño de infancia, que hoy es una vibrante realidad, se sostiene sobre los hombros de su apoyo constante.

Mirando hacia el 2026, lo hacemos con fe renovada, humildad y un compromiso más firme que nunca. Seguimos construyendo, aprendiendo y sirviendo.
