I’m Alex & this is me in a nutshell:

I'm Italian, love all things food, travelling around the world and the colour pink! I've always been interested in helping people and the healing abilities of mother nature. Also as a dancer from a very young age I was always interested in nutrition and the mechanics of fuelling a body. When you put all of these interests together - you become a naturopath. I am very passionate about everything I do, and put my whole heart & soul into each and every client. I’m finally able to offer so much knowledge that I’ve been roaring to share! I believe that having goals and aspirations in life is a must; in 5 years time I will have my own product range and will have completed another degree in female health and fertility. Let’s talk about the oral contraceptive pill 💊 ⠀

1. The bleed you are having whilst taking the pill is not a real period. It is a withdrawal bleed of the synthetic hormones. ⠀. ⠀⠀
2. Many young girls go on the pill to “regulate their hormones”. The OCP only suppresses your body’s own ability to produce its own hormones.⠀.⠀⠀
3. Think of the pill like a bandaid, it is only placing a temporary solution for things like acne, heavy periods, painful periods, etc. So as soon as you stop taking the OCP, these things will return if not worse than before. ⠀⠀.⠀⠀
4. When taking the OCP you do not make any s*x hormones of your own, you only have synthetic ones. This means your ovaries are completely shut down and you do not ovulate the whole time while on the OCP. For some women this can be for 20+ years 😱⠀⠀.⠀⠀
5. Many girls put off coming off the OCP as they think it will be hard work. Don’t delay it if it is something you are wanting to do - the longer you leave it the more entrenched your period and hormonal issues will become. Especially if falling pregnant in the near future is important to you. ⠀.⠀⠀
6. Many girls suffer with mental health issues when on the OCP. This is because your hormones are being suppressed. Imagine suppressing a mans testosterone - they would not be their energised, happy selves. This is exactly what happens to females when on the OCP. ⠀⠀. ⠀⠀
7. The OCP suppresses s*x drive and libido. How’s the irony in that considering most females take it for contraception. 🤯⠀⠀

Educating women about this side of the pill is something I’m SO passionate about, it’s not something the docs tell you when they prescribe it. AWARENESS IS KEY! After you are made aware of the pros and cons, if you still think it is the best decision for you then I’ll happily support your body through the process 🌸🌸 ⠀⠀

A pill-bleed is not a menstrual cycle or even a simile of one. It's a withdrawal bleed from contraceptive drugs that stimulate the uterine lining but shut down the ovaries.

There is not, and has never been, a reason to bleed monthly on the pill. The advice to do so was a marketing strategy to convince women and doctors that contraceptive drugs support a natural process. (They don't.)

Naturopathy with Alex

Alex is a qualified with a Bachelor degree in Naturopathy and Natural Medicine. She is also a member with NHAA (Naturopaths & Herbalists Association of Australia). This degree allows Alex to treat her clients with a holistic approach to health care. Within the consultation, Alex may choose to prescribe herbal medicines, flower essences, nutritionals or send you off for further functional testing if appropriate. Alex creates individualised treatment plans for her clients - not one treatment plan is the same! This is the beauty of naturopathy.

Alex may also conduct some in-house physical examinations, including but not limited to iridology, blood pressure, weight, height, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature and other examinations she deems fit at time of consultation. Alex can assist with an array of different conditions but her passions lie with female health, fertility, skin conditions and mental health concerns. After suffering with her own health issues, she understands how infuriating it can be when nothing is working... This is when she found and fell in love with naturopathy.

If you are not sure naturopathy is for you, Alex offers 5-10 minute free phone chats to discuss your complaints and assess if this could benefit you too. Alex looks forward to seeing you in her clinic.
