I'm sure there’s still a number of women who think creatine is only for bodybuilders, heavy lifters or people trying to “bulk up.” For good reason, many of us used to think that.
But the more I’ve researched creatine monohydrate over the past year, the more interesting it’s become - particularly for women in midlife.
What’s fascinating is that creatine isn’t only involved in muscle performance. It also plays a role in cellular energy production throughout the body, including the brain, which is why researchers are now exploring its potential role in cognitive function, mental fatigue, recovery, healthy aging and overall resilience.
What I personally love most about this conversation is that it shifts the focus away from aesthetics and back toward something far more meaningful: strength, vitality, energy and feeling well in our bodies as we age.
Research around creatine is still evolving, but I have a feeling we’re only scratching the surface of what women are about to learn about it.
