Having a skin check with your dermatologist or GP is essential for assessing your skin cancer risk, but you play an important role too!

By performing regular self-examinations, you can spot changes that may need your doctor’s attention. Be sure to check your entire body, including your feet, between your fingers and toes, and even your nails. You can use a mirror to check hard to see spots or ask a family member or friend to help you.

Look out for any changes in colour, shape or size. Remember, regular skin checks can help catch potential issues before they become serious - if something doesn’t look right: get it checked!

While we love seeing our clients, we often get asked, "How often should I really visit a dermatologist?"

The answer, like our skin, isn’t one size fits all! Depending on your unique skin conditions, concerns, and goals, the frequency varies. However, if you're unsure how to start seeing a dermatologist or if you need a referral, here's a simple guide to help you navigate the process and understand when to book that appointment.

For general skin check ups: Once a year
▪️ Just like you see your general physician for an annual health check up, consider an annual visit to the dermatologist your skin’s yearly physical exam!

For acne prone skin: From every 4 weeks to every 3 months.
▪️ Depending on your treatment plan, we may see you for treatments every month. If you’re on prescribed acne medication, regular check-ins help gauge efficacy and adjust treatments if necessary.

Chronic skin conditions: As recommended by your dermatologist.
▪️ For those with chronic skin conditions, your visit frequency will likely be determined on a case by case basis.

Whether you're aiming for healthy skin, addressing specific concerns, or exploring cosmetic avenues, staying in tune with a dermatologist ensures you’re on the right track!

With summer around the corner, excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis becomes a common concern for many. Hyperhidrosis is a condition where the body sweats excessively, even when the temperature isn't hot or physical activity isn’t causing it.

The most affected areas are often the underarms, hands, and feet, where sweat glands are most active. Managing sweat in these areas can help you feel more comfortable and confident during the warmer months.

We offer consultations to discuss hyperhidrosis. Visit the link in our bio to discuss more.
