Men this one is for you!

Do you get your car checked when the warning lights come on? Your own health is just as important. ⚠️

Prostate cancer affects up to 1 in 6 Aussie men. It's most common in older men (over 50), especially those who've had a close relative diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Early prostate cancer doesn't usually cause symptoms. If any unusual symptoms do show, it's important to get your prostate checked.

Here are some signs you need to check under your hood (not that one):
πŸ‘‰ frequent urination
πŸ‘‰ pain while urinating
πŸ‘‰ blood in your urine or semen
πŸ‘‰ a weak stream while urinating
πŸ‘‰ feeling like your bladder is not empty after passing urine
πŸ‘‰ pain in your lower back, upper thighs or hips
πŸ‘‰ unexplained weight loss.

A prostate check usually starts with a prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood test. PSA is a protein made by cells in your prostate gland. This test won't diagnose cancer, but it may show if you need further testing. Other tests might include a digital re**al exam (DRE), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and biopsy.

If you have any risk factors or symptoms (especially if you're over 50), speak to your healthcare provider about your prostate screening options.
