A message to all of our followers from our founder, Dr Linny Kimly Phuong:

"14 years ago, I founded The Water Well Project. As an ongoing volunteer, Founder and Board Chair, this organisation has been a labor of love, passion and drive for equity- for people from backgrounds similar to my parents.

My parents were Vietnamese boat people (depicted below in front of the housing commission flats in Richmond). They arrived in Australia by plane after time spent in a Malaysian refugee camp in 1979. When settling here to start a family, they believed they were the lucky ones.

Like many other refugees in this country- sadly, they will have lower health outcomes than the average Australian. Lower levels of English language, lower levels of understanding of health, disease and the healthcare system, cultural stigma... many other reasons.

Our humble health promotion charity is attempting to level the playing field. We want all people in Australia to understand the basics of health, disease and the resources available to them.

The funding climate has been challenging and yet our demand for health education sessions is growing. This is why we need your help. Your tax deductible donation will help us continue our work and reach communities that need this education the most. Thank you"
