Struggling lately? Feeling overwhelmed, stressed, anxious or depressed?

These are very normal reactions to the vast changes the world has gone through over the past few years. Or maybe the way you're feeling has nothing to do with the pandemic at all and you've just been having a rough go of it lately.

Whatever the cause your GP can support you through it!

At HealthMint your GP is your ally in your healthcare journey. They will listen to your concerns and match you up with a treatment plan that is best tailored to your needs. If your struggles are to do with your mental health, then chances are they will recommend a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) appointment.

But what is involved in this? Often times people don't know going into a MHCP what to expect and can be startled by it when they're in the room. We wanted to demystify the process a little so you can know what to expect coming into your appointment.

Have a swipe through to learn about what you can expect at a MHCP appointment.

Forgot your sunscreen and now you're burnt?

It happens! Here are some GP approved tips to care for your sunburn:
- Take pain reliever such as Ibuprofen or Paracetamol.
- Cool the skin using a clean towel dampened with tap water.
- Drink extra water for the day to avoid dehydration.
- Keep the skin moisturised with an aloe vera lotion or gel.
- Treat peeling skin gently, keep moisturised with aloe vera lotion or gel and if it starting to itch...

Do you use SPF 50+ protection daily?

We are told that wearing SPF 50+ sunscreen daily is vital to protect our skin from the harsh Australian sun, but why is it so important?

To start with, skin is our largest organ. It provides a waterproof wrapping for our body and is our first line of defence against bacteria and other organisms

2 out of 3 Aussies will be diagnosed with skin cancer before the age of 70

Australia has one of the highest skin cancer rates in the world

More than 2000 Aussies dies each year from skin cancer

Wearing SPF daily along with protective clothing is an important way we can protect our skin and ourselves from the damaging effects of the sun and reduce the risk of developing skin cancer.

Comment below to show your commitment to sun safety and wearing SPF this summer!

Last month our team bundled up all of the donations our community collected for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. Community members at the drop off site were extremely thankful and said the donations couldn't have come at a better time.

Thank you to everyone in our community who contributed and gave generously!

Some snaps from our end of year dinner last month!

It was lovely to be able to socialise among the team and celebrate all of the hard work undertaken by each and every team member. This year we had partners and family members join in, as the support they have shown us over a challenging couple of years cannot be underestimated.

As is tradition we played a game of Bad Santa. Scroll through to see some pics of our bad Santas in action!

FINAL WEEK OF SKIN CHECK CAMPAIGN FOR 2022! BOOK NOW!

Now that the weather has warmed it is a great time to think about our skin and how best to protect it and ensure it's health all summer long. This is why we are bringing back our Summer Skin Check Campaign for another year.

Available until the end of December, skin and mole checks will incur a reduced gap fee for all new and existing patients at our HealthMint clinics! ☀️

Every year skin cancer accounts for around 80% of all newly diagnosed cancers 😱 and the majority of skin cancers are caused by sun exposure.

It is estimated that GPs have over 1 million patient consultations per year related to skin cancer!

At HealthMint we have the equipment and experience required to assess any areas of concern on your skin.

🔍 Our GPs can diagnose if a mole could be a skin cancer and can perform mole removal procedures on site in our treatment rooms.

We don't want you to be a statistic! Which is why we are encouraging everyone to book in for a Skin Check this summer.

Dr Saima at Cranbourne and Dr Somayeh at Croydon are especially excited to participate in this years Skin Check Campaign at HealthMint and are looking forward to seeing you this summer. To book for a skin check with Dr Saima or Dr Somayeh visit our website today.

Comment ☀️ below to show your commitment to skin safety this summer!

DISCLAIMER: The Skin Check Campaign appointment is for running a full skin and mole check. If any abnormalities are identified during this appointment further appointments may be necessary for further investigation and/or treatment which will incur additional costs.
