June is Migraine Awareness Month—a time to shine a light on a condition that affects millions of Australians. Migraines are much more than “just a headache.” They can be debilitating, impacting work, family life, and overall wellbeing.

At Pivotal Osteopathy, we see firsthand how migraines can disrupt daily routines. Common symptoms include intense throbbing pain (often on one side of the head), sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, and difficulty concentrating. For some, migraines are triggered by stress, lack of sleep, certain foods, or changes in routine.

While there’s no one-size-fits-all solution, there are effective ways to help manage and reduce migraine frequency. Here are a few tips:

* Identify Your Triggers: Keeping a diary of your migraines can help you spot patterns and avoid common triggers.
* Prioritise Self-Care: Regular sleep, hydration, balanced meals, and movement can make a real difference.
* Optimise Your Workstation: Poor posture and long hours at a desk can contribute to tension headaches and migraines. Simple ergonomic adjustments can help.
* Seek Professional Support: Osteopathic care can play a role in managing musculoskeletal factors that may contribute to headache and migraine symptoms.

If you or someone you know is struggling with recurring migraines, you’re not alone. Our experienced team at Pivotal Osteopathy is here to offer support, education, and tailored care strategies.

🌟 Can Exercise Help with Joint Pain? 🌟

Hey Pivotal Osteopathy community! 👋 Let's talk about something that might surprise you—exercise can actually help with joint pain! 🤔💪

When done right, movement is medicine for your joints. Here’s how exercise can make a difference:

1. Strengthens Supporting Muscles 🏋️‍♂️
* Stronger muscles around your joints provide better support, reducing strain and improving stability.
2. Boosts Joint Mobility 🤸‍♀️
* Gentle exercises help maintain and even improve your range of motion, keeping your joints flexible and functional.
3. Reduces Inflammation 🩺
* Regular movement can improve blood flow and reduce inflammation, which often contributes to joint pain.
4. Manages Weight ⚖️
* Maintaining a healthy weight decreases stress on weight-bearing joints like knees and hips.
5. Releases Feel-Good Endorphins 😊
* Exercise can reduce pain perception while boosting your mood—win-win!

💡 What Exercises Are Best?
Low-impact options like walking, swimming, yoga, and Pilates are great for easing joint pain without adding stress. Strength training and tailored exercises can also help build resilience.

If you’re unsure where to start, our team at Pivotal Osteopathy can guide you with personalised exercise strategies designed to suit your needs and goals. Remember, it’s all about finding the right balance—too much or the wrong type of exercise can aggravate pain, so listen to your body!

💬 What’s your go-to way to stay active? Share your thoughts below or reach out if you’d like advice on managing joint pain with movement. We’re here to help! 💪✨

🌸 Endometriosis Awareness Month 2025: "Endometriosis Explained" 🌸
March is Endometriosis Awareness Month, and this year’s theme, "Endometriosis Explained," focuses on improving understanding of this often-misunderstood condition. Endometriosis affects 1 in 7-10 women and those assigned female at birth, yet it’s frequently underdiagnosed and misunderstood.
💛 What is Endometriosis?
Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, causing pain, inflammation, and sometimes fertility challenges. This condition can affect various parts of the body, including the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and pelvic tissues.
💡 Common Symptoms Include:
Chronic pelvic pain
Pain during or after menstruation
Pain during in*******se
Fatigue
Bloating or nausea
Fertility challenges
If you or someone you know experiences these symptoms, consult a healthcare professional for guidance. Early diagnosis and treatment can significantly improve quality of life.
🌼 Why Awareness Matters:
Endometriosis can take years to diagnose, leading many to feel unheard or dismissed. By raising awareness and improving education, we can empower those affected to seek the care they deserve. We’ve put together a helpful article about Endometriosis on our website to help provide accurate and clear information so you can make informed choices about your healthcare. You can read it here: https://www.pivotalosteo.com.au/endometriosis/
At Pivotal Osteopathy, we’re committed to supporting women’s health through individualised care and understanding. If you’re living with endometriosis and experiencing musculoskeletal pain, you may find osteopathy a helpful addition to your current management strategies to help manage pain levels and improve your overall well-being. 💙
