New and expectant parents are more likely to experience mental health issues. Increased stress and isolation over the past two years has added to existing challenges, however, many still face barriers to getting support.

Some new parents share their experiences in this SBS article as a part of Perinatal Mental Health Week to help break down silence and shame.

The importance of raising awareness and ending stigma is at the heart of Perinatal Mental Health Week in 2021

Often people with chronic health conditions experience invalidation from medical professionals, their friends, and/or family. Researchers at RMIT are examining the relationship between invalidation and health outcomes for individuals with chronic pain and other physical conditions.

The study is open to anyone over 18 years old with a chronic illness, physical injury, or non-communicable disease (with or without chronic pain) that has lasted for >3 months.

Given the current impact of the Coronavirus, we have reviewed how we continue to deliver high quality training. We will deliver our workshops using an online platform to allow us all to continue to engage in professional development.

The workshop will continue to remain interactive, albeit via the internet. The same high quality information will be delivered live by both Jacqui and Nick utilising powerpoint, video, whiteboard and role play with opportunities for questions and discussions.

New for 2020, we will also offer an additional one hour group webinar soon after the 2 day online training to discuss any challenges in the implementation of strategies with your clients. And registration fees have also been reduced. We have extended the early bird price for the upcoming Pain Management in Practice online webinar to allow some extra time to coordinate the changes. The first 2 day online webinar is being held on Thursday 30th April and Friday 1st May 2020 and is open to everyone within Australia and internationally. The early bird price has been extended to Thursday 23rd April.
