It’s not easy watching the Leader of the Family aging ~ their bodies failing, and yet their minds and souls are still so young……
It’s not easy watching the Leader of the Family so vulnerable, so needy and so desperately trying to protect themselves from feeling controlled by others and having no personal power.
It’s not easy watching the Leader of the Family looking and feeling so helpless.
That Leader of the Family who was always the strong one…… the one who raised the children, who got knocked down so many times, and no matter what always managed to pick themselves up - dust themselves off and carry on……
And suddenly not so strong anymore.
All of a sudden they’re not the strong one, YOU ARE, for them.
That Leader of the Family is my Mum ~ my Mum has the most amazing strength, just a tiny woman with a body that is crumbling and endlessly breaking (osteoporosis), but a mind of strength.
I’ve talked to many older woman in similar situations who aren’t so mobile and quite vulnerable. They all have said similar comments that suddenly now they’re old, they feel useless, they don’t matter, no one listens, no one is really around to care.
But they’ve all had amazing lives, and hold sooooo much wisdom from their life experiences - the good experiences and the bad experiences. It’s the Leaders of our Families who have the wisdom, just ask them, just listen - that’s all they need, is a feeling of being heard 🌻💛
I talked briefly with a 93 year old woman at the hospital today, most beautiful lady, and she shared a bit of her story ~ I love those moments that get you right in the heart 💛
And maybe that’s what we need, to listen and learn from the people who have the actual life experiences - people who have been on that journey.
Please note: this is not a sympathy post, just observations and awareness that we all experience at some time of life 💫
