We stayed 3 nights on a fabulous property at Millaa Millaa to explore the beautiful waterfalls and scenery. Great to be in the cooler temperatures so we can get out hiking again. No swimming pools so Gary had a dip in the swimming holes. Very big spiders around and our closest encounter with a snake. 🐍🕷️ 🥰

Julia Creek was on my bucket list to go to the artesian baths. So good we did it twice. Such a relaxing experience. Homemade Pizza was also a hit. Bonus, the caravan park gave us free passes to the swimming pool next door, so we clocked up 3 visits swimming 🏊 🍕🥰

Next stop Cloncurry. We found a fabulous camp outside of town with beautiful sunsets which allowed us to also explore Mount Isa, Mary Kathleen Ghost Town and the old Uranium Mine. So glad we have a 4 wheel drive to get to some of these remote landmarks and experiences. We had drinks at the Walkabout Creek Hotel made special with the hospitality of publicans Debbie and Frank. 🛻🥰

We left Aramac and headed to Winton where we played on the musical fence. We visited the Waltzing Matilda Centre learning the background behind our unofficial National Anthem. Andrew Paterson wrote the Waltzing Matilda lyrics after listening to the melody written and played by Christina Macpherson. Over 500 artists have released recordings of the song. The centre also has an amazing collection of memorabilia. I particularly loved the medical and pharmacy room music 🎵 🎶 🩺 🥰

We stayed 5 nights in the country town of Aramac, a lovely community spirit and so well maintained. We continued our afternoon swims to cool down in the afternoons - only $1 entry fee. Great council campsite with amazing amenities. 🥰

Revised plan to safely get to Cooktown completed. We are off to Winton tomorrow. Following original plan until we get to Julia Creek and then we head to Townsville before heading north. I hope the Winton swimming pool 🏊‍♀️ is open as it’s going to be 42 degrees tomorrow ☀️🥵

We have slowed down and been watching road conditions and the cyclone. Some of the roads that we planned to travel are still flooded from earlier rain, so we are now making a second plan for travelling up to Cooktown. This is the road out of Normanton so we won’t go that far up this trip. Still some exciting adventures ahead 😘

We went on Safari 🐘 and completed the Aramac Lake Dunn Sculpture Trail, which features 40 sculptures along a 200km scenic loop all created by local sculptor, Milynda Rogers. We also spotted an abundance of Cattle, Goats, Emu and lots of birds 🐦 along the trip. Lake Dunn was spectacular but too murky for us to go for a dip. Finally we spent some time at the ancient sacred Healing Circle, connected to 6 other circles in the world; Japan, Tibet, Madagascar, Peru, Turkey and the USA. Sharing all the sculpture photos as not sure if any of you will be this way to complete yourselves so you can do it virtually with us. Hope you enjoy as much as we did 🐨☀️😘

We loved our time in the cute town of Ilfracombe. Two nights relaxing in a camp spot on our own with beautiful sunsets and amazing stars ✨ . Walked the Lynn Cameron Machinery Mile with a very impressive range of cars, trucks and earth moving equipment 🚜 Visited a very quirky gun and glass bottle museum. With temperatures at 37 degrees and rising 🥵 we haven’t been able to complete our 10,000 steps so we had a very refreshing swim in the Artesian pool and relaxed in the spa pool 😊
