Ok, we all know that protein is having a moment right now!

It's important for so many reasons, and making sure that you are getting enough is not just important for muscle. When protein is broken down into its building blocks, Amino Acids, they are used for hundreds of thousands of biochemical processes in the body.

Making sure you are getting enough, especially of foods containing the nine essential amino acids, is vital. But, its not just about how much, its also about timing.

A little planning and a balanced, whole food diet can help you to hit your goals without a huge reliance on the current flood of protein enriched/fortified processed foods that we are seeing on the shelves recently.

It is not a flashy or fancy tip, it is actually pretty damn easy:
1. Fill 1/2 of the plate with fruits and vegetables (the non-starchy kind) 🥦
2. Fill 1/4 of the plate with lean protein 🥩
3. Fill 1/4 of the plate with wholegrains or starchy vegetables 🥔

I am Shannon, the face behind chews.to.nourish.
I am currently in my last block of student clinic, so by July I will be a Bachelor-degree qualified Clinical Nutritionist.
Helping people with their nutrition goals, particularly helping people with their endocrine (hormonal) and metabolic health is my passion!
I am a wife, mum, nurse, absolute science nerd and avid reader. I love breakfast, coffee, books and lifting heavy things.
