Title: 'Through the Blue'
Materials: Acrylic on White Cotton Apron
Artist: Elizabeth Ellen
Artist Statement:
This apron embodies a profound promise: beyond fear lies limitless possibility. I've crafted a serene blue expanse with a single wave, creating a sanctuary for survivors of domestic violence. The vast sky represents calmness, patience, and the unwavering light at the end of a tunnel. The solitary wave signifies movement, momentum, and the unrelenting push forward.
My artwork honors the unyielding courage of those who persevere through uncertainty. The deliberate minimalism and uncluttered composition offer clarity and solace, inviting reflection and awareness. This apron is not a destination; it's a companion on the journey towards healing and empowerment. It urges us to acknowledge the resilience of survivors, to recognize their endurance as a testament to their strength, and to take action through awareness, conversation, and support.
I offer this painted apron to The Apron Project with the hope that it will inspire, raise resources, and ignite a sense of conviction in all who experience it - that forward momentum is not only possible but inevitable, and that together, we can create a brighter future.
