When anti wrinkle injections go wrong…..

You need someone with advanced training who understands how the face evolves and ages, and you need a professional you can trust.

It’s also crucial to understand the importance of a treatment plan, because not every issue can be addressed in one session, nor can a single injection provide long-lasting results.

If you are considering any invasive facial treatment, such as anti wrinkle injections, fillers, laser etc, then make sure you do your research and find someone who is fully qualified, has many years of experience and uses good quality products.

Some adverse effects may be temporary others permanent.

How qualified are they in adverse reactions?

There are Criminal Offences under section 41MA and Civil Penalties under section 41MAA of the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989, for persons who import, supply or export medical devices that do not meet the Essential Principles for safety and performance.

Fully trained and qualified cosmetic practitioners will know the full anatomy and physiology of treating you with injectables.

They also have the informed knowledge on how to store, handle and dose the medication appropriately.

Injectables are an S4 medication meaning they are prescription only. You need to have a consultation with the prescribing doctor/nurse practitioner before administering any injectable.

Injectables that have not been handled or stored correctly or are a counterfeit substance put your health at risk.

Injectables must be ordered via a doctor or nurse practitioner. Nurses are not able to obtain scheduled medications of any kind, in hand with this goes the face to face consultation with the prescriber (dr or nurse practitioner) that is done via video if not on site.

Anyone claiming to be a medical professional must be registered on the AHPRA site in Australia.

Ask where they sourced their products from and ask for the leaflet that you are entitled to take home as now required by the TGA.

Where is the treatment taking place?
Are sharps being disposed of safely? Can you see a sharps container? Is the place they are working from hygienic ?

If you have any concerns about any of the above issues or if the products are being handled correctly and not counterfeit contact the TGA or AHPRA.

Patient safety is always our main priority. If you are still unsure just ask we will help/advise in any way we can.

There can be permanent detrimental effects from being injected by someone who is not qualified or using counterfeit products or incorrectly handling and storing products.

From purses to perfumes to shoes to men’s colognes, fakes do not have the quality or longevity of the original product or “the real thing.”

But when it comes to medicines, fakes can be disfiguring and even deadly.

Anti-Wrinkle solutions and dermal fillers are also being counterfeited and imported from overseas suppliers.

Remember, you also ONLY have one face and one body, and you’ll be facing it in the mirror nearly every day for the rest of your life.

When it comes to plastic surgery or cosmetic procedures such as injectables, taking short cuts is usually never a bargain.

Bottom line if it seems too good to be true it probably is!

Reason for reposting is after the last post and this in my story both on my skinscription_h page and Skinscription_Riverland page so many people reached out.

No this is not normal and unfortunately if you are pregnant or breastfeeding you now have to wait but this can be resolved.

I’m posting because after this client went back to the injector who did it the person did not know what to do. And told her it was her fault.

I am always here for you to reach out/ask questions and for advice any time and a few of you do. I’m still happy to see you when I make the occasional visit back to the Riverland but this is not a regular visit.

I have even had other injectors reach out and say they have had to dissolve lips like this recently.

Know who is injecting your face!!!

You should ask questions things can go wrong, depending on the treatment there can be temporary or permanent adverse effects.

New AHPRA regulations came in July 1st protecting you as a consumer and encouraging you to ask questions and ensuring your practitioner is registered on AHPRA, has the appropriate insurance and training in each area they are performing treatments in.

Ensure they are a fully qualified cosmetic injector and enquire how long they have been injecting - how often they have performed the treatment?

Have they ever had an emergency occur? Why? How did they treat it? Have they had any adverse results? Who is their support?
Does their work place meet standards?
What products are they using? How long have they been using them?
Are the products registered with the TGA - therapeutic goods administration?

The Diode laser works by projecting a beam of light which is converted to heat and conducted down the shaft of the hair to the hair follicle. The laser is calibrated to target pigment (melanin) in the growing hair. This means that the hair follicle is destroyed without damaging the surrounding tissue.

An initial consultation is required prior to treatment where a technician/nurse will assess your skin type and hair growth to see if you are a suitable candidate for laser hair removal.

The target area is shaved before treatment so that the surface hair does not absorb the laser energy. We carefully photo-document and monitor the entire treatment process along with our clients.

Because the laser only acts on hair follicles that are in an active growth phase (approx. 10-30% at any one time), more than one treatment will be required to kill the hair follicles that subsequently enter this growth phase.

Other factors that may affect the number of treatments required include your skin type, age, ethnicity, weight, hormones, diet, medications and metabolism.

Since darker hair tends to have higher pigment content, the laser is most effective on dark brown or black hair. Darker tones of red and blonde hair are also treated effectively with the laser. White or grey hair can be treated if there is enough pigment in the hair shaft to conduct the energy of the laser beam.
