The Black Dog Community Art Project

The Black Dog Community Art Project The Black Dog: Shadows and Light is an Art Therapy Exhibition which invites exhibitors to create new artworks around the theme 'The Black Dog' .

The Black Dog is a free community art exhibition, showcasing creativity as a powerful source of healing during periods of depression, anxiety, isolation and loneliness. This exhibition aims to help focus public attention on issues faced by those with depression and/or anxiety by breaking down stigmas and barriers associated with Mental Health. Artworks can consist of paintings, drawings, collage, mixed media, photographs, writings, stories, sculptures (small - medium in size) and craft items including wall hangings. You can have a personal experience of depression and/or anxiety or reflect on how depression and/or anxiety has played a role in your life through family, friends and/or colleagues. I experienced this and lost a group of girlfriends when l told them of my attacks by one particular man. They assumed l was lying as my abuser was a very nice, out going man who thrived in building the self esteem in his women friends. I bare the fruits of his evilness, and the consequences to my mental health as l lost friends as well as my life. He went on to teach in a secondary girls Catholic private school. I’m horrified by this. I for one know, nice men are not always nice regardless what their peers think.
