Making it in Music: real conversations, real connections

Miss the ‘Hot Seat’ sessions at MP Music Summit last year?

Presented in partnership with RPP FM-Your Peninsula Radio and Mornington Peninsula Shire, this event is proudly part of our Make Music Matter initiative.

Making it in Music is a small-group networking event designed for emerging and established musicians to connect directly with industry professionals.

Held in small groups, you'll move through six expert-led discussions, where industry guests share insights, swap stories, and answer your questions. It’s practical, low-pressure, and all about building your music career from the inside out. No panels, no PowerPoints — just real talk about what it takes to create a sustainable and creative life in music.

Step into the spotlight — free professional photo shoot thanks to .amplify at The Corner Youth Hub next door. Ideal for fresh promo shots, press kits or profiles. A chance to build your brand with a pro behind the lens.

Then stick around after the sessions for a casual jam led by Poul Grage and hang with fellow musos. Presented by the MP Music Network.

🌿 What an incredible experience our youth hub team had visiting Willum Warrain Aboriginal Association last week!

Located in Hastings, Willum Warrain (meaning 'home by the sea') is a gathering space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our region - as well as a welcoming place for all.

Our guide Tammie welcomed us with such warmth and generosity, sharing her personal story and family history with us. For some of our team, this was their first visit, and we were all so grateful for the experience.

We were honoured to:
✨ Be welcomed with a traditional smoking ceremony and water blessing
✨ Try on beautiful possum fur cloaks
✨ Tour the grounds
✨ Taste native edible plants and learn about their traditional uses

Tammie's storytelling and knowledge made this cultural immersion truly special.

If you haven't visited Willum Warrain yet, we highly recommend it! Thank you so much to Tammie and Willum Warrain for sharing your culture and creating this experience for our team. 🙏
