Homelessness - something that we are all a few bad decisions or a few bad events away from.... it is a fine line between having and not having, and with the current economic state, the line is becoming finer... we can be at risk of homelessness for many reasons...our mental health, the state of our relationships, our financial situation...
Simone and I began the Homeless Food Run on a Tuesday n
ight after two lovely ladies, Jan Mc Cool and Judy, aka Truck (who had been doing it for eons, decided to pass it on)... so we took it up. Sims’ 14-year-old boy, William, helps out and is exposed to the more raw end of people... those affected by drugs, domestic violence, sexual abuse, mental illness...the list goes on.. We have seen the need in the Serpentine Jarrahdale and Surrounding areas so have spread our wings to cover this area (Thanks to Stuart, Coral and the amazing band of volunteers and community support)
We will be working closely with schools, providing education and opportunities to the students to work with our street friends. We do this because it is nothing for us to spend a few hours a week making some Serpentine Jarrahdale and Surrounds folks a little bit happier and filling their bellies.
