π§‘π Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and it marks the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism.
This yearβs theme, Unite to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls, shines a light on the growing harm happening online, including image-based abuse, cyberbullying, harassment, grooming and catfishing.
Violence against women is preventable. Creating safer, more respectful communities, both online and offline, is something we all have a role in. Calling out disrespect, supporting people who speak up and checking in when something does not feel right can make a real difference.
Across the Eurobodalla, community groups are taking part in the 16 Days of Activism, including Moruya turning the town purple on Tuesday 25 November to show support. π
If you are experiencing abuse of any kind and want to seek support, you can contact 1800RESPECT.
If you are 12 to 25 and want someone to talk to about your online experiences, digital safety or anything that has been worrying you, you can reach out to headspace Batemans Bay or headspace Narooma on 1800 718 383. π
